YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office says a husband shot and killed his wife, a mother of two, after mistaking her for an intruder early Thursday morning.According to a spokesperson, deputies were called to the home around 2 a.m. Thursday after a report of a woman shot and not breathing.The sheriff's office said the family was sleeping and the 30-year-old husband woke up to what he thought was someone breaking into his home. He reports that he grabbed his gun, saw what he believed to be an intruder and pulled the trigger.The person he thought was the intruder was actually his 31-year-old wife.Two children, ages 2 and 4, were inside the home at the time and neither were injured.Deputies say the husband was taken into custody and is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail as the investigation continues. (KGTV) -- A project that would create thousands of homes in San Diego County is heading to the ballot on March 3. If approved, Measure B, also known as Newland Sierra, would affirm the San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval of the changes to the general plan. The project includes 2,135 homes, 60 percent of which would be affordable for working families, according to Kenneth Moore, a spokesperson for the Yes on B campaign. The project would be built just off I-15 next to the cities of Escondido, San Marcos, and Vista. Newland Sierra also preserves more than 60 percent of the property as permanent open space. RELATED: Newland Sierra promises to prioritize first-responders for new homesCurrently, the general plan includes only 99 homes and designates as much as two million square feet of commercial property.If voters do pass Measure B, the permitting process will take 18 to 24 months, according to Moore. It would take another six to seven years to construct the entire project. Moore says construction on the infrastructure could begin as early as late 2021 or 2022. New homes would then start being sold and under construction by 2024. If the measure doesn’t get approved, however, Moore says that’s it for Newland Sierra. “Somebody could then move forward with the development of the current general plan zoning that allows a massive commercial development and estate homes," Moore says. She says she is not part of any organized group, but felt compelled to do something after seeing the video, and in light of what’s happening nationally, following the death of George Floyd. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The world's smallest surviving baby went home healthy after being delivered at a San Diego hospital at only 23 weeks. Saybie was delivered in December of 2018 at 23 weeks and three days at San Diego’s Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns. According to the hospital, Saybie’s mother gave birth after experiencing severe pregnancy complications. When she was born, Saybie weighed 8.6 ounces, about as much as a large apple, according to the hospital. After her birth, the hospital’s life support team rushed to stabilize her before she was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. Saybie was sent home in mid-May at a healthy 5 pounds. "No one expects their baby to be born with complications," said Trisha Khaleghi, senior vice president and chief executive officer at Sharp Mary Birch.
