TAMPA, Fla. — A kitten in Florida is recovering after being stabbed in the face with a dart.Jennifer Tate volunteers with the St. Francis Society Animal Rescue and she can’t wait to bring home the kitten.“We saved a cat about two and half years ago that had been shot with an arrow and we named him Sir Robin. So, we thought it would be appropriate to name her Maid Marian, the love interest of Sir Robin Hood," said Tate.Hillsborough County Animal Services is trying to find out who’s responsible for hurting the cat.“The person that found her said she could not open her mouth, so it had pierced all the way through and actually into part of her throat," Tate said.Someone found the kitten on Aimiee Court, south of Bearss Avenue in Tampa.“It’s horrific. How does somebody walk up to a cat and jam something into her face? And walk away. How do you sleep at night," said Tate.If Maid Marian is ready, she’ll have surgery Friday at Gulf Coast Veterinary Center.Tate will foster her, but eventually, the hope is the kitten will be adopted.“We want her to have the best life and to be able to put this behind her. TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — The United States has carried out its second federal execution this week, killing by lethal injection a Kansas man whose lawyers contended he had dementia. Wesley Ira Purkey was put to death Thursday at a prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. Purkey was convicted of kidnapping and killing a girl in Missouri and dismembering her body. He expressed remorse before his execution, saying he regretted the “pain and suffering” he caused. The victim's father says he hopes Purkey “rots in hell.” The Supreme Court cleared the way for Purkey's execution to take place just hours before. Another man, Daniel Lewis Lee, was put to death Tuesday, ending a 17-year hiatus on federal executions. Lee's execution went forward after its own late-night Supreme Court ruling allowing it to happen. 811

He was 74.Bochco died Sunday morning at home, surrounded by family, according to Phillip Arnold, Bochco's personal assistant.Bochco co-created several of TV's most popular programs, while his large ensemble casts and ambitious storytelling set a benchmark beginning in the early 1980s that he refined and built upon for more than 30 years. The 49-year-old son of a prominent Macomb County, Michigan judge faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his father, whose body was found on a Florida golf course. Police said James Scandirito Jr. quickly became a suspect in the case after he called the Boca Raton police on April 1 to report his father, James "Skip" Scandirito Sr., missing. The son said his father never returned home on March 31, but Scandirito Jr.'s story had inconsistencies, according to police. Scandirito Sr.'s body was later discovered at an abandoned golf course in Boca Raton. The Alachua County police arrested Scandirito Jr. after he was seen driving his vehicle with stolen license plates. He's being held without bond in his father's death. Scandirito Sr. represented Harrison Township on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners in the 1990s and was later elected to serve as a judge in 41B District Court in Mount Clemens.  1000
