CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Frustration is growing after a second fire broke out at the Teresina Apartments in Chula Vista on Sunday night. Witnesses tell 10News they saw a group of teens playing in the park near the apartments and a few minutes later they noticed the fire. William Maher lives in the apartment complex. He tells 10News he was the one who made the call to the fire department. Maher says the teens were recording the flames and laughing. He says they ran away when he yelled at him. The fire was so close to the apartments that the heat shattered several windows and melted window blinds.Sunday night's fire is the second fire in less than three weeks in that same area. On October 25th, fire crews responded to a fire just feet away. Maher hopes police will find the teens before someone gets hurt. He's also hoping parents look through their teen's phones to see if they can find the videos that were recorded. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chula Vista Police.  1050

(KGTV) - Lakers star Kyle Kuzma appeared at the Buffalo Wild Wings at Otay Ranch Center for a Boys & Girls Club fundraiser.Kuzma appeared at the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at Otay Ranch Town Center to meet fans and sell some of his exclusive “Kuzmania” merchandise.The Laker then had dinner at the restaurant with fans who purchased special event tickets.A percentage of the proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Boys & Girls Club of America as part of Buffalo Wild Wings’ “Community Day”.The 22-year-old Kuzma just finished his rookie season with the Lakers. He was among the team’s leaders in points per game and rebounding this season. 710

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Faith leaders and business owners in Chula Vista attended a training Monday night to learn how to plan and prepare for an active shooter threat. Chula Vista police lieutenant, Dan Peak, tells 10News the department received several calls after the Poway Synagogue shooting, asking officers how they could stay safe in the event of an active shooter at their place of worship or business. Chula Vista Police Sergeant, Mike Varga, provided the training for the community. Varga's presentation included a history of active shooters, red flags to look out for, and what to do if you find yourself in an active shooter situation. His advice in that situation is to run, hide or fight. During the presentation, Varga played a 9-minute video detailing exactly what one can do to survive a shooting. Varga also told the audience to listen to their intuition, meaning if someone is displaying red flags, alert the police and let investigators decide whether or not there is a threat. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- A brand new health clinic for military veterans opened its doors in the South Bay Friday.The new Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) facility is located at 353 H Street, Chula Vista.The new VASDHS facility will replace the current clinic at 865 3rd Avenue, which opened in December 2015. It's three times the size of the facility it's replacing and will serve up to 25,000 veterans.The million clinic has 28 exam rooms,12 consultation rooms, and optometry and women's health and mental health services. In addition, the clinic will expand the capacity for appointments.Many veterans had to drive to La Jolla or Mission Valley for these services.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the new VASDHS clinic is built with physical precautions like plexiglass separating the patients and staff at the front desk.According to the Veterans Affairs website, 529 veterans have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in San Diego County and have been treated within the health system. 1012

(CNS) -- Search warrants served at five illegal marijuana dispensaries in Chula Vista, Lakeside and Spring Valley resulted in the arrests of six people on a variety of charges and the seizure of .1 million and 3,000 pounds of marijuana and other drugs.Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department served the warrants at the dispensaries, as well as at homes in Jamul and San Diego and at a storage facility in Spring Valley, according to Sgt. Zheath Sanchez.The warrants followed "numerous community complaints related to unlicensed and illegal dispensaries, some located in residential neighborhoods and near local schools," Sanchez said.Taken into custody were:-- Samir Shoshani, 34, of Jamul and Iisin Mikha, 28, of Michigan, for conspiracy and operating or maintaining a drug house-- Brandon Ceja, 23, of San Diego, for being a felon in possession of a firearm-- Ariel Brown, 23, of Chula Vista, for possession of metal knuckles and possession of marijuana for sale-- Faith Ford, 22, of San Diego for possession of marijuana for saleIn addition to the marijuana, deputies seized marijuana edibles, concentrated cannabis, suspected Psilocybin mushrooms, and 20 firearms, including three semi-automatic rifles, Sanchez said.Two of the illegal dispensaries were located in Spring Valley, one in the 9900 block of Dolores Street and the other in 9500 block of Kenwood Drive.Two others were located in Lakeside, in the 8500 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard and the 900 block of Greenfield Drive in Lakeside.The fifth illegal dispensary was located in Chula Vista in the 300 block of Palomar Street. 1639
