(KGTV) -- A man died Friday after a fight broke out at a party in Chula Vista, police say.Chula Vista Police say they were called to the 1100 block of Ocelot Avenue around 11:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a loud party.After arriving on scene, bystanders directed officers to the 400 block of East Oxford in reference to a fight.When they arrived, police found two men bleeding from unknown injuries. (KGTV) — Firefighters worked Friday to extinguish a brush fire that sparked in the Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista.Officials said the fire started sometime around 12 p.m. near Heritage Rd. and Olympic Parkway, according to Chula Vista Fire Department. The fire began not far from the Republic Services Otay Landfill.Firefighters said the forward rate of the fire had been stopped at 10 acres just before 2:30 p.m. No structures were lost and no injuries were reported.Neighbors came out to watch firefighters work and monitor the blaze.Some were concerned, thinking of past fires that charred neighborhoods, while others like Jessica Rojas had faith in the firefighters, "we've been hearing like a lot of firetrucks and so we figured they were doing a good job of putting out the fires."In addition to CVPD crews on the ground, SDG&E's Sky Maverick helicopter was called to help battle the flames from above with water drops.Chula Vista Fire Captain Linda D'Orsi said this is a great reminder of the importance of defensible space, saying it's not too late in the year to do that yard work. (KGTV) - The family of the man found in a barrel in San Diego Bay, near Chula Vista, is working toward closure two years after he disappeared.Omar Medina’s body was found Oct. 12, 2017, after a diver found a white, 55-gallon drum floating in the bay. She's the oldest of three and stepped in as an extra parent growing up, as they didn't have a father."This is the thing I cared about most growing up, he [Omar] was like a child to me," Villegas said.Thinking about her 28-year-old brother, she dreams of what could have been, "going to his wedding. I miss not meeting my nieces and nephews, I miss not having cousins for my kids." She spoke publicly for the first time this year at Chula Vista Police's Evening with Heroes fundraiser."Once they came in I felt a weight lifted off my shoulder[s] and that's what they've meant to me, they have definitely been that strength I'm not," she said police showed her family kindness and empathy."[Detectives] who put their photo on their desk and said they're out there. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Police identified Tuesday a man and woman who were shot by the woman’s ex-boyfriend in a deadly domestic violence dispute near a Costco. The incident happened Monday afternoon while Angelina Perez, 32 and Samuel Valdez, 31, were loading groceries in the trunk of their vehicle in the parking lot of the store on Broadway with their infant daughter in a stroller. Sean Illian, 48, approached them with a gun and opened fire, hitting Perez and Valdez several times, police said. The baby was not hurt.Witnesses in the parking lot saw Illian shoot himself in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
