ernando Herrera Jr. and his company Fersho's HVAC and Home Renovations. "He said it would take within a month to do everything,” Petrou said.Petrou said after he signed the contract the crew got down to business ripping out siding, windows and doors.About three weeks into the job, Petrou said he started to notice major flaws in the fixes. For example, Petrou claims Herrera purchased the wrong type of windows for the house and none were installed correctly."The height of the window sills are different,” he explained.Petrou said when he confronted Herrera his crew cleaned up some of the mess they’d made and took off. The job was nowhere close to being competed. That was after he says he paid Herrera more than ,000. Petrou sent Team 10 an email correspondence he had with Herrera where he demanded his money back. The email chain shows Herrera responded saying in part, “You know what, you can have the local news do your story, I won’t file any lawsuits. It won’t affect me at all. I have decided not to go back to San Diego and make a living with my family somewhere else. Life in the US, especially in California is too expensive nowadays that we decided to try our luck overseas. I tried many times to work things out. Your house would have been done by now. But you just wouldn’t want to work with me. So this John, this whole thing IS ON YOU!! [sic]”Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin called Herrera multiple times but hasn’t received any response. Team 10 did track down the address on Petrou’s work contract to Herrera’s uncle’s house in south San Diego. His uncle said there is no business operating out of that house and he did not give his nephew permission to use his address. He did provide a phone number for Herrera's dad. Team 10 called that number, but no one called us back. No License With the StateThere’s no Fernando Herrera Jr. in the San Diego area listed as a licensed contractor. Also, a quick search through state records shows there also is no Fersho's HVAC and Home Renovations listed as a licensed business. There's no license number on the contract and renovations was spelled incorrectly on the contract provided to Petrou."He told me he was licensed, his dad was licensed,” Petrou said.Petrou filed a small claims action against Herrera and his uncle.Court records show a trial in small claims court is set for October. The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) confirmed to 10News it received a complaint and the investigation is ongoing.A spokesperson for the CSLB said there are ways consumers can be proactive to avoid problems with suspected unlicensed contractors.Petrou filed a small claims action against Herrera and his uncle.Court records show a trial in small claims court is set for October.Perform an “Instant License Check” on our website. http://www.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/CheckLicense.aspx [cslb.ca.gov] You can search by license number, business or personnel name, Home Improvement Salesperson number, or Home Improvement Salesperson name. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman who shot through her neighbors’ apartment in Clairemont Mesa after they complained about noise was convicted Tuesday.Brittany Lefler, 37, is facing up to 36 years in prison after being convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm among other charges. The prosecutor in the case argued that Lefler was drinking and was “out of control” and “verbally abusive” when Erik Morales called police around 1 a.m. on December 29, 2016 at her apartment on Beadnell Way. RELATED: Topless standoff suspect pleads not guilty in courtMorales and her roommates told police Lefler kept banging on the wall and screaming inside her apartment. When officers arrived, Lefler wanted to know who called police on her. Morales’ 19-year-old son said that, at one point, he went outside and asked Lefler to “keep it down.”That’s when Lefler reached into her boot and pulled out what appeared to be a gun. "She (Lefler) said, `C'mon outside, I'll bust a cap in you,"' Henry Molina testified.Molina said he heard Lefler telling police she kept a gun for “things like this.” Deputy District Attorney Michael Reilly told the jury that around 5 a.m., Lefler pointed her gun at the people inside Morales’ apartment before pulling the trigger."She (Lefler) did it on purpose," the prosecutor said. "In a moment of anger and fury, she shot through that front door. Ms. Lefler sent a message with a bullet through that front door. She can't do that!"Deputy Alternate Public Defender Gilson Gray told the jury Lefler called 911 several times that night but police didn’t help her.Gray said Lefler was home alone, scared and outnumbered by her complaining neighbors. Gray also told the jury that Lefler had been practicing pole dancing.Gray said both sides were yelling at each other when Lefler fired a shot accidentally when a door suddenly slammed. 1860

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A stunning photo of a female surfer riding the waves was taken at sunset in Cardiff, and the photographer who took the image is hoping to find her.Los Angeles-based photographer Robin Kerr is inspired by nature. She has been taking nature and wildlife photos since she was a child.“My dad lent me his camera on our family vacation to Montana in 1989, ever since then I’ve had the bug,” said Kerr.Kerr said she had visited some amazing places to take photos, but her trip to San Diego in 2018 is one of her favorites.“I took a trip down to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to see all of the wildlife there," said Kerr. “It had rained on and off all day. I was thinking it might be a really great sunset, something dramatic with the clouds.”Kerr made her way to Cardiff just before it got too dark to snap pictures of the beach. At that moment, she took a stunning photo of a female surfer gliding on the water, in front of a golden sunset.“You can tell she’s just experiencing so much joy in the photo, doing what she loves," Kerr told ABC 10News.Kerr said while taking photos of other objects on the beach, she missed meeting the surfer. She posted the picture, and another zoomed-in image of the woman on her social media accounts, hoping to find her. She had no luck. Nearly two years later, she is resuming her search.“I came across that picture again; I thought man it would be so great to actually find her," Kerr said.Kerr said she has not been able to retake a photo like this. She would like to gift the woman with a large canvas of the picture when she is able to find her perfect muse.If you know the woman in the photo and can help connect her with the artist, you can find Kerr on Instagram at @agirlwonder. 1744
