DETROIT — Michigan sheriffs will let be letting parents know when their child is involved in a traffic stop. The Michigan Sheriffs' Association has partnered with State Farm to automate the S.T.O.P.P.E.D Program. S.T.O.P.P.E.D, or Sheriffs Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers, is a voluntary program for parents who would like to be notified when their child is involved in a traffic stop by a sheriff's deputy. Parents do have to register to ensure they’re part of the program.And while some sheriff’s departments have been doing this for a few years, what’s new is that parents can now get a text if they are in Livingston or Mason counties. S.T.O.P.P.E.D Livingston and Mason Counties were selected to pilot the program.The idea is simple — if your son or daughter is pulled over and you’re signed up, the sheriff’s office will send a text 48 hours after they write the ticket. DENVER — A Denver police officer is under an internal investigation after a photo of him and two other officers dressed in riot gear was posted on Instagram with a caption that read, “Let’s start a riot.”A screenshot of the officer’s Instagram post was shared on Reddit Monday. Tommy McClay's Instagram account has since been removed, and the post is no longer viewable. Denver police said the officers in the photo have been reassigned and will not be working the protests. Attorney General announced on Monday.The Attorney General's Office said that investigators found over-the-counter drugs that were months beyond their expiration dates at Family Dollar, Dollar General and Dollar Tree locations as well as a number of motor oils that are not suitable for vehicles for engines made after 1988 at Dollar General. Investigators even found at multiple Dollar General locations a type of motor oil, DG SAE-30, which is not suitable for engines built after 1930. “It’s a tough pill for New Yorkers to swallow that the over-the-counter drugs they were buying may have been expired,” said New York Attorney General Letitia James. “New York consumers have a right to expect that products on store shelves are safe, fresh and suitable for their advertised use.
