SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A fire that burned near SDSU Sunday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of a nearby apartment complex has been contained. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the fire burned roughly two and a half acres. University Police evacuated the Villa Alvarado Apartments during the blaze. Evacuees were asked by the school to report to the Tula Community Center at 6126 Montezuma Road. As of 2:18 p.m. evacuations were still in place. San Diego Fire-Rescue Tweeted around 1 p.m. that the blaze was burning on the 5500 block of Canyon Crest near SDSU. RELATED: Check traffic nearby“SDFD has many firefighters on the ground as well as air resources on this fire. Please avoid the area if possible,” the department said in a tweet. The fire also forced MTS to miss several stops during the fire including it's College and Alvarado stop, College and SDSU stop and SDSU Transit Center stop. Update: The fire is now contained, and no SDSU buildings are at risk of fire.Villa Alvarado remains evacuated at this time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 21-year-old man was hospitalized Monday after he was stabbed in the back and arm by a home intruder in the Oak Park neighborhood, police said.It happened around 11:55 p.m. Sunday at a home on Fauna Drive, located off College Grove Drive just northwest of state Route 94, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.The victim went downstairs to get some milk for his daughter and found a man standing in his kitchen, Buttle said.A struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed in the back and the right arm before his assailant fled, the officer said.The victim's wife drove him to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, Buttle said.No detailed suspect descriptions were immediately available.Detectives with the San Diego Police Department's southeastern division were investigating the stabbing. 872

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A bankruptcy judge told a San Diego-based financial investment advisor that he was spending against her orders. She told Christopher Dougherty he doesn’t have the right to prefer his kid’s expenses over his creditors.Today the judge ruled Dougherty will be in Chapter seven bankruptcy, meaning that he and his wife are no longer in charge of their own assets.A trustee will investigate and liquidate those assets.Dougherty is being accused of running a Ponzi scheme targeting mostly elderly victims who planning for retirement and taking more than million, according to bankruptcy court records.In bankruptcy court documents, the United States Trustee wrote Dougherty’s “deception is the basis of a Ponzi scheme.”“[Their] practice of using new investment money to pay existing investors dividends and the principal gave the false impression that the payments received by investors came from earnings and profits or from a return of their principal,” the documents said.The San Diego County Sheriff's Department tells 10News there is a criminal investigation into Christopher Dougherty with at least 30 potential victims.The Securities and Exchange Commission also has an open investigation into Dougherty. 1237

San Diego (KGTV) -- A 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries Monday night when she was hit by an SUV while crossing the street in Pacific Beach.Police say the collision happened shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Grand Avenue west of Mission Bay Drive.A 24-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Jeep Cherokee eastbound of Grand Avenue while the victim was crossing the street southbound, then stepped off the center median and was struck by the Jeep. Paramedics took the victim to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with major injuries. She is expected to survive.The driver remained at the scene. 591

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A College Area homeowner got a huge shock when he returned home from a camping trip: The presence of some uninvited guests.Bill Yogerst left Saturday at 12 p.m. from his home on Catoctin Drive. On Monday morning, he got a call from his roommate, who had also been out of town, telling him the grates on the outside of the granny flat had been damaged.     Inside the house, there was one disturbing discovery after another.    "There was a trail of dirt in the shower. They had urinated on the toilet. He also found shoes and some sweatpants in his hamper that didn't belong to him. Sheets were pulled down and the pillows rearranged and stacked ... realized they were sleeping in my bed ... a creepy feeling of violation," said Yogerst.The intruders in this twisted Goldilocks tale: A homeless couple in their 20s. Neighbors spotted them in the driveway on Sunday. Yogerst says they found his hidden spare key and walked right in."It was like a Holiday Inn.
