SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Mega Millions ticket sold at a Sorrento Valley convenience store was the only one to match all six numbers for the 0 million jackpot Friday.The winner of the ticket, sold at Sorrento Deli Mart & Liquor on Roselle Street, must now decide how to accept the winnings: 30 installments of the 0 million jackpot or a lump payout of 5.2 million.The winning numbers were 17, 19, 27, 40, 68 and the Mega number was 2. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge is expected to decide whether to release a sexually violent predator into the Jacumba Hot Springs area.Joseph Bocklett, a convicted repeat sex offender, had a placement hearing Monday morning. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, it was held virtually. ABC 10News wasn’t given permission to record it, but we did monitor what happened inside of the courtroom.The Department of State Hospitals wants to put the 75-year-old Bocklett in a home in Jacumba -- after a Judge denied a proposal to move him into a home in Pauma Valley.Bocklett was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19-year period involving victims between the ages of 4 and 9, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. He was last sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term and later civilly committed to Coalinga State Hospital to undergo treatment.Though the public wasn’t allowed to physically be inside of he courtroom, they’ve been working to make sure their voices are heard, protesting this recommendation.They have got pages of signatures from residents in the East County. A few of them gathered near the courthouse holding signs expressing their concerns about the possibility of another sex offender being placed in their community.Among that group Melissa Woodall and her daughter. Woodall said rural East County shouldn’t always be the first choice when it comes to placing sexually violent predators.Woodall said, "It’s awful, it really is. There are so many people who have been put into our community who are predators.”The judge says he’ll take a few days to review the letter that were submitted and the testimony that was given before he makes his decision. 1696

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A growing number of apps and online video games are creating new opportunities for hate groups to recruit young people with little oversight, experts say.The information comes about a month after a 19-year-old honors student allegedly shot four people inside a Poway synagogue, killing one person.Dr. Peter Simi, a Chapman University professor who has studied hate groups for more than 20 years, say they are feeling emboldened in a way not seen before. Simi pointed to the charged anti-immigration and anti-Muslim rhetoric that has become mainstream has given the groups new confidence. "We have a long history of these groups that we don't talk nearly enough about because we're in kind of the denial game," Simi said. "The last several years, the white supremacist movement is emboldened in a way that certainly goes beyond anything I've seen in 24 years."RELATED: Shooting at Poway synagogue leaves one dead, three injuredSimi said the groups will use a soft-sell method, drawing people in with subtle white supremacist ideas. They use that introduction as an avenue for further discussion before growing more explicit. The groups, which have posted fliers on San Diego college campuses, are also recruiting young people through apps and video games.For instance, a suspected hate group targeted Ben Hedgspeth's 17-year-old son through a meme app."They were coming from a particular religious background and they were trying to recruit him into their online chat space," he said. "It frustrates me to know that those people are out there approaching our children."Simi said ignoring the groups won't work and schools aren't always doing enough. To start, subscription programs like Circle and Bark can do things like filter content and set limits. Bark will also alert parents to communication such as hate speech, sex acts and depression. But there's one place safeguards still lag: Video games. Bark Chief Parenting Officer Titania Jordan said it's because people communicate verbally - via headset - on popular online games like Fortnite, Roadblocks and Minecraft. She said children need to be instructed never to divulge any personally identifying information that can make them easy to locate, and then lured into a private chat. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Los Angeles area man says the San Diego County District Attorney's office charged him with a crime he didn't commit.Angel Galvan says the mistake cost him money, time and when you search his name at the courthouse a court file."For me to go through all of this, it hurt a lot," said Angel Galvan.Galvan says in July of this year, he received a letter from the San Diego County District Attorney saying he'd been charged with Grand Theft of Personal Property from Go Wireless. He thought it was a mail scam."What is PC 487," Galvan said.It was no scam.Galvan says the district attorney's office claimed he and other people were using stolen credit cards to buy merchandise from a Go Wireless location in the San Diego area."I hope you realize I live in the valley (San Fernando) like I don't live nowhere near San Diego," Galvan said.Galvan lives in Panorama City, that's in Los Angeles County, about two and a half hours from San Diego.Galvan says he did work at a Go Wireless store near his home, but for only two months, and that was back in 2017. The alleged crime happened in March of 2018."Every day I got home, I was stressed," Galvan said. "I couldn't believe it," he said.According to a claim, Galvan filed with the County of San Diego, "It turns out that another individual named Angel Galvan worked at Go Wireless, but worked in San Diego, committing crimes."Team 10 obtained an email sent by a San Diego County Deputy District Attorney in August of 2019 to Galvan's criminal attorney acknowledging he was not the correct Angel Galvan.The email stated, "HR at Go Wireless mixed him up with another Angel Galvan. I will calendar a dismissal asap. Sorry for the mix-up.""No one called him, no one looked to see if it was the right person, no one checked his address no one checked his work records," said Galvan's civil attorney Alex Ozols.Ozols claims the District Attorney's office did not do any further investigation after receiving Galvan's information from Go Wireless, and that's a problem."A lot of time, they do get it right, and we appreciate that they are representing the state of California," Ozols said. "However, when they get it wrong, the repercussions are just so bad when they do, and in this case, they did."Galvan tells 10News he had to sell his truck to pay the legal fees. He also had to drive to San Diego for an arraignment where he was order to do a book and release. He says he was fingerprinted and had his DNA taken.According to the claim, "He will/does have this listed on his Department of Justice print out, he is still in the police system, an arrest records still exists, and his DNA was taken against his 4th amendment constitutional right because he was charged with a felony."Galvan says he lived in constant fear he'd go to jail, and his son would grow up without a father."I work 50-60-hour weeks. I barely even see my son now, and the last thing I wanted to do was go to jail and not be able to see him at all," Galvan said.Galvan said when the case was finally dismissed there was a wave of emotion."It hurts a lot because of everything I went through," he said.Both the San Diego County District Attorney's office and Go Wireless said they couldn't comment on pending litigation.Galvan's attorney tells 10News the County of San Diego rejected the legal claim, and they do plan to file a lawsuit.Court records show there is an ongoing court case involving another person named Angel Galvan. 10News tried to track that person down was unable to speak with anyone. 3540

San Diego (KGTV) -- A person was killed when their motorcycle crashed into a guardrail while riding with friends.Police received the report of the crash at the intersection of Sweetwater and Shannonbrook Court just after 10:30 p.m. in Lemon Grove.Police closed the intersection to investigate how the motorcyclist lost control.The victim died at the scene, their name was not immediately released. 405
