SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Weeks after storms flooded University of California San Diego dorms, students are still reeling from the damage.UCSD officials said 41 students, from Thurgood Marshall and Revelle Colleges, were relocated after the flooding Nov. 20. By Dec. 6, they said 19 had moved back into their rooms.Students showed 10News their dorms that smelled of mold. Friday, a dorm in the Thurgood Marshall Lowers Apartments had a hole in the ceiling. Students said the hole was cut after water fell from the ceiling days after the Nov. 20 storm."I noticed something dropping and it's like starting to smell," a student said. "It started dropping from three holes in the ceiling ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Only in San Diego, an Easter egg hunt on the beach! Hundreds of kids were out in Mission Beach looking for eggs spread out in the sand. Belmont Park hosted the event for the 5th year in a row. Over 13,000 eggs were scattered in the sand, filled with candy, ride wristbands and food vouchers. The hunt was scheduled in age groups so the smaller children would also have a chance to find the prizes. A second Easter egg hunt happened inside of Belmont Park completely free to the public. The event is so popular that some traveled from out of state and even out of the country to have their kids look for the eggs in the sand. Some of the Easter eggs had golden tickets inside, with prizes worth up to .  763

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With the cost of living going up in San Diego, a lot of people are looking for ways to make extra cash. A new startup in San Diego called Bounce wants to help drivers maximize their income. "The drivers are the most important element," said CEO Mark Potter. Potter transformed the front of his law office into the startup space. He is a longtime fan of rideshare. "Before there was rideshare, I was hiring people off craigslist to give me rides," Potter said.His model for this new company is to focus on the driver and give them more incentives to want to stay and work for the company. "Our drivers are owners. They earn ownership in our company through stock options," said Potter. This stake in the company is one of the main reasons Pamela Bernier signed on to be a driver. Bernier said, "Working my own hours, calling my own shots, still enjoying the income and the people at the same time."Bounce also has a repeat customer option. Riders have the freedom to create a list and request their favorite drivers. They also have the luxury to arrange future rides in advance.  According to the company, this provides a safer environment for both the rider and driver and also gives the driver a more consistent cash flow. "I could bounce you here, I can bounce you there, I bounce you home, where you wanna bounce let's go," said Bernier. Uber and Lyft are two other companies dominating the rideshare space. According to Lyft, 68% of drivers are primary earners of their household, and so far in 2018, Lyft passengers also spent an additional million on local businesses in town. According to Uber, rideshare and delivery drivers in California took home more than .97 billion in gross revenue for 2017. Bounce is set for a September launch, and the company is currently interviewing drivers. They require in-person interviews and background checks for each driver. They are also in the process of putting in a panic button option in the app for riders to feel safer during their ride. "We envision is that our company will be very successful with loyal drivers that put Bounce first. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Winter weather swept through San Diego Sunday, making a dent in fire danger, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Meteorologist."This is very good timing," NOAA Meteorologist Alex Tardy said, referencing the heavy rain across the county and even some snow that fell in places like Santa Ysabel in east county.Tardy said this year's heat broke records, "we exited a summer... is all time hottest for places like Escondido, Campo, Borrego Springs, Palomar Mountain. That whole corridor, which is most of San Diego except the immediate coast, the hottest period from June through October on record so that's made our fuels drier than they've ever been."The heat leaving San Diego vulnerable to a devastating fire season."We had the Valley fire in September, it could have been a lot worse, so this rain doesn't end our fire season but it puts a huge dent in it," Tardy saidThe winter forecast is fairly dry. Tardy said San Diego will be on the edge of some storms and may get a little relief from that but it won't be enough to keep us out of a drought."Regardless of getting a few storms that could give us heavy rain, a drier than average winter that's predicted starts putting us into the long term drought scenario and you never want to go into that especially considering it took us so long to get out of the one we were in a few years ago," he said. 1405
