SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A second lawsuit has been filed by family members of a mother and daughter killed by a YouTube star in a deadly wrong-way crash last year.18-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet on YouTube, drove his McLaren the wrong way on I-805 in August 2018. The crash killed Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. This latest lawsuit was filed August 22nd by Angelo Pizarro and Arcelio Garcia. Pizarro is one of the sons of Aileen Pizarro. Garcia is the father of Aryana. A lawsuit earlier this summer was filed by Aileen Pizarro's other son, Dominic, and her father. The lawsuit claims wrongful death and negligence by the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego. The family is also suing Heitmann’s estate. It states that San Diego police received a “mental case” call that Heitmann was “screaming, paranoid and delusional and threatening to harm his mom.”Police were advised by a licensed psychiatrist that Heitmann needed to be “possibly placed on a 5150 mental hold,” according to court records. However, officers did not speak to or evaluate Heitmann to determine if he was a danger to himself or others. The lawsuit also states that “one or more of the Police Officers represented or implied that they were part of a San Diego County Psychiatric Emergency Team.”Team 10 reached out to both county and city officials. As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no comment regarding the lawsuit from the city. A county spokesperson said they have not seen the lawsuit yet. Cynthia Chihak, the attorney for Pizarro and Garcia, sent Team 10 a statement which reads in part:"I am privileged to represent Angelo Pizarro, the son of Aileen Pizarro, and Arcelio Garcia, the father and sole heir of twelve year old Aryana Pizarro, who were killed on August 23, 2018 when their car was struck head-on by a McLaren automobile driven by Trevor Heitmann... This family is not excusing Mr. Heitmann’ s reckless behavior, but believe this tragic loss of three lives could have been prevented if the City of San Diego has taken seriously earlier reports of his violent and dangerous behavior. The loss suffered by this young man Angelo, of his mother and sister and the loss to Mr. Garcia of his daughter can never be rectified. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A sea lion pup in Encinitas was saved Tuesday from a diver's mask that was tightly wrapped around its neck.The year-old sea lion pup was found at Swami's Beach with a diver's mask wrapped around its neck. The sea lion, which only weighed about 32 pounds, appeared malnourished and dehydrated, according to SeaWorld rescue team members.The mask had been wrapped around the sea lion's neck for weeks, preventing the pup from foraging and eating.RELATED: Sea lion lies down in front of San Diego hotel's sign, refuses to budgeHad the mask remained on the pup, the animal would likely have eventually starved to death or been strangled by the mask, crews said.Rescue team members cut the mask off the sea lion, but found that a wound caused by the mask had become infected. Crews took the pup to SeaWorld’s Animal Health and Rescue Center, where officials treated the sea lion's wound.Officials say other than the wound and undernourishment, the sea lion was in good health. They hope to release the pup back into the wild in the next few months after rehabilitation. 1090

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An El Centro teacher was arraigned Tuesday after she was accused of providing marijuana and alcohol to students on a school camping trip.Monique Garcia, 50, faces two felony charges and three misdemeanor charges garnering a maximum sentence of 8 years and 4 months in state prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.Deputy District Attorney Stephen Marquardt said a 17-year-old student on the trip gave Garcia a ride to a grocery store where she bought alcohol and then drove to a dispensary where she bought cannabis, including edibles.Marquardt said students were intoxicated and became sick after consuming the alcohol and/or cannabis.According to the Southwest High School website, Garcia was head of the math department. The Central Union High School District sent a statement to 10News reading in full: "In order to protect the integrity of the judicial process, Central Union High School District does not comment on ongoing or pending proceedings. Monique Garcia is no longer employed by the District. Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations the District will continue to respect the privacy of all those involved."Southwest High School's Outdoor Adventure Club went on a three-day camping trip in February of 2019, according to the Imperial Valley Press.IVP named Garcia as the head adviser of the club and stated she was on that trip with 29 students.The trip took place, according to IVP, at the Laguna Campground from Feb. 15-18.This is the first criminal case resulting from the newly formed Student Safety in School Systems Task Force, under the San Diego County District Attorney.Garcia will be in court for a preliminary hearing June 18.A restraining order was filed, to keep Garcia from contacting 18 individuals, whom Marquardt said she texted before and after the trip.A LinkedIn profile with the same name lists Garcia as a teacher at Southwest High School from August 2008 - present and at Gompers Charter Middle School from August of 2006 - June of 2007.The San Diego Unified School District confirmed Garcia worked at Crawford High School from Sept. 28, 2007 to June 30, 2008. 2143

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Valencia Park dog owner is looking for the person that took his dog from his front yard Tuesday morning. Jayden Ryan’s five-month-old french bulldog, Greyson, was last seen playing in their driveway. His security camera shows Greyson walking over to the fence, but then the camera jumps to footage of a man wearing a hood walking away, and he appeared to be carrying the dog in his arms. Ryan says there were about three to four minutes of missing footage, that might have shown the man’s face, as well as how he ended up with his dog. He says the camera company told him there was an issue on the way the video uploaded. However, a neighbor saw the incident. He told Ryan, as well as 10News, that he saw the hooded man reach over the fence, pet the dog for about a minute, then grab him and walk away. The security footage picked up audio of the neighbor yelling at the hooded stranger and then chasing after him. “(My neighbor) says he tried to run after him, but he is 54 years old. He was no match for him, so he ended up getting away,” Ryan said. Neighbors said they recently saw the man in the neighborhood. Ryan says French bulldogs are expensive so they can be enticing to thieves. He would be surprised if he were casing the neighborhood. Ryan is putting up fliers, hoping someone will have information about Greyson, or the man in the video. “They didn’t just steal my dog, they stole the happiness from me,” Ryan said. San Diego Police say no suspects have been identified at this time and no arrests have been made. 1561

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect police tried to pull over for speeding Thursday afternoon led officers on a chase.The chase came to an end on the 3600 block of Federal Boulevard near the Hillside Apartments, according to police.At this time, the details surrounding the chase are unclear though the driver could be seen being taken into custody. 351
