HAIKOU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- China's fishery administration said on Sunday it had started regular patrols of the South China Sea, sending two vessels to take over from two others currently escorting Chinese fishing boats in the area."China Yuzheng 301 and 302 take over from China Yuzheng 311 and 202, which have been patrolling the sea area of Nansha Islands since April 1," said Wu Zhuang, director of Administration of Fishery and Fishing Harbor Supervision for South China Sea under the Ministry of Agriculture.He said the patrol ships were sent to escort Chinese fishing boats in the South China Sea and reinforce China's fishing rights of the waters around Nansha Islands.The two ships set sail from Sanya, a coastal city in China's Southernmost Island Province of Hainan, on Sunday.China's patrol vessels escort the country's fishing boats and help treat fishermen who fall ill, Wu said. YICHUAN, Henan, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The death toll after a central China mine blast last week has risen to 40，with 6 still missing, local authorities said on Tuesday.An official with the rescue headquarters confirmed Tuesday that 98 people were working underground in the Guomin coal mine in Yichuan county when the blast occurred at 7:20 p.m. on March 31. 57 were lifted to the ground unharmed, 35 were killed and six are still missing.The explosion also killed five and injured one on the ground, the official said.The illegal coal mine owned by village head Wang Guozheng was poorly managed and even does not have a payroll list. That's why the dead and missing could not be identified, the official said.Ten people allegedly accountable for the accident are under control by police, including mine owner Wang Guozheng, who was previously given a reprieved imprisonment sentence in 2009 for covering up a mine accident.Work safety authorities ordered the mine to suspend operations after a gas outburst on May 1, 2009. YUSHU, Qinghai, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The death toll has climbed to 2,064 from a devastating earthquake in northwest China's Qinghai Province, with 175 people still missing, the rescue headquarters said Tuesday.As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the 7.1-magnitude quake, which struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu at 7:49 a.m. Wednesday, had also left 12,135 injured, of whom 1,434 were in serious condition, the rescue headquarters said.
