(KGTV) - After hundreds of signs and fences along the trails at the Carlsbad Ecological Reserve are ripped from the ground, Fish and Wildlife is now setting up a specialized enforcement team. Secret cameras set up around the 500 acre reserve caught dozens of bikers ripping up signs, cutting fence wire and vandalizing property.Fish and Wildlife representative Peter Tira told 10News this is nothing new."We're not dealing with recreational mountain bikers, we're dealing with folks who disregard the law and believe the law doesn't apply to them," said Tira.Starting Saturday, April 6, Fish and Wildlife enforcement officers will hand out citations to all bikers who are caught riding the trails. Each citation comes with a 0 fine. "We've installed about 500 signs on this property almost all of which have been taken down or vandalized. On each of the signs it says 'No Bicycles'," said Tira.However, many mountain bikers who showed up to the trails Wednesday told 10News this is a popular spot for many in the Carlsbad area. Ivan Sekanovich comes to ride these trails at least once a week and is disappointed that Fish and Wildlife are letting the actions of a small group of bikers ruin it for the rest of them."For the most part, people know where they're supposed to hike and the bikers know where to bike," Sekanovich said. 1358

(CNS) -- Police Friday announced the arrest of a 54-year-old Poway man on suspicion of killing a young woman in Carlsbad 33 years ago.James Charles Kingery was arrested Wednesday in connection with the sexual assault and murder of 26-year-old Julia Hernandez-Santiago, whose body was found on Oct. 10, 1987, on an ivy-covered embankment in the 2100 block of Alga Road, west of Alicante Road, Carlsbad police spokesman Jodee Reyes said.The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was asphyxiation due to strangulation."Investigators were able to recover several pieces of key evidence at the time; however, a suspect was never identified," Reyes said.Over the next three decades, detectives continued to follow leads and technology eventually helped reveal new investigative angles to probe.Last March, San Diego County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on narcotics and weapons violations and took a DNA sample from him, as required by law based on his alleged offenses, Reyes said. Last May, the sheriff's crime lab notified Carlsbad police that the DNA samples from the 1987 murder case were a match for Kingery.Kingery was booked into the San Diego Central jail around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of murder, according to jail records. He was being held without bail pending his arraignment, scheduled for July 31.A motive for the killing has not been disclosed. 1428

BURBANK (CNS) - The Walt Disney Co. reported sharp year-over-year third-quarter revenue drops today, thanks in part to the coronavirus-prompted closure of its theme parks, but the success of its streaming services, most notably Disney+, gave the Burbank company a needed boost.Disney reported third-quarter revenue of .8 billion, a 42% drop from last year's third quarter, but still ahead of industry expectations.Revenue losses were fueled largely by the closure of Disney parks worldwide, with the company's Parks, Experiences and Products segment seeing an 85% revenue drop from the third quarter of last year. (KGTV) - Carlsbad neighbors banded together to finish the hike of a woman who was stabbed to death in Hosp Grove Park.Dozens of hikers descended upon the trail Saturday afternoon, honoring 68-year-old Lisa Thorborg.Thorborg was walking or jogging, according to police, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday when she was attacked.RELATED: Carlsbad police: Woman found dead on hiking trail was stabbed to death"We loved her, though many of us didn't know her. I didn't know her personally, but you could definitely tell she had a sweet spirit," Neighbor Theresa Dooley said.Dooley said she was shocked and deeply hurt by the news. She said neighbors had been discussing what happened on the Nextdoor app and organized a walk for Thorborg."Some would like to finish the walk she began, some of us might walk various areas of the park here," Dooley said.Dooley said they wanted to wash away the fear surrounding the park, "we don't want our parks taken away from us, we don't want to live in fear, we want to be able to enjoy this, we want families to be able to come out here."Dooley added she will be taking precautions now when she hikes, "as women, it's probably important to have a partner with us, someone that we're hiking with."A tipster led investigators to identify a suspect as white or Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a husky build and a tan complexion with dark hair. CEDAR PARK, TX — Three police officers were shot Sunday while responding to a call in Cedar Park, Texas, according to police.The three officers suffered non-fatal injuries while responding to the call on Sunday afternoon and are currently stable at a local hospital.The shooting began an hours-long standoff that lasted throughout the evening on Sunday and well into Monday morning. Two hostages were released from the home on Monday morning at about 8 a.m. CT. About an hour later, a third hostage and the suspect emerged from the home peacefully.Preliminary information obtained by ABC News says the incident started as a domestic dispute. 650
