However, one local company has found a way to deal with these challenges, especially as kids get ready to start a new school year. Brain Balance of San Diego offers a holistic program that specializes in getting to the root of children's challenges."Those challenges might be academically, socially, or behavioral, says office director Amanda Lee. "We see a lot of parents who come in with children struggling with attention, and sensory processing."And at Brain Balance, they stay away from medications. "That just looks at the tip of the iceberg, and is a band-aid."They believe in the power of exercise, with workouts such as jump rope, balance beam, and planks just to give a few examples."It's fantastic for the brain, but the type of exercise we do here is very intentional. It works on very specific areas of the brain, but especially the connections between the different regions which are connected with development, processing, learning, and every day functioning."Many families are now seeing their kids struggle, as they deal with the pandemic and distance learning. "It's just been difficult," says the father of twin girls going through the Brain Balance program. But now having schools start with the distance learning, it's going to be hard to gauge them, but I can see they've gained."So what are the red flags to look for in your children? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities Tuesday identified the man killed during a Jet Ski crash over the weekend.According to the San Diego County medical examiner, 21-year-old Darius Kennedy died after a boat struck his Jet Ski.The medical examiner says he disappeared under water but emerged. People in the water helped Kennedy, who was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and torso. He later died.The crash happened near the north end of Ski Beach around 6:30 Saturday.The driver of the boat that crashed into the Jet Ski was questioned and the boat taken in for evidence. The name of the boat driver hasn’t been released. 638

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Coaster service through San Diego County will be unavailable for two weekends this month.To give crews time to complete infrastructure improvements along the rail corridor, North County Transit District announced Coaster service from Oct. 19-20 and 26-27 would be shut down.On Fridays before the closures, southbound Amtrak R2R trains A792 and A796 will make their trips to Santa Fe Depot, but Amtrak train A590 will stop at Oceanside Transit Center.During the service shut down, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink will not provide service to Oceanside Transit Center. Trips on connecting buses will need an Amtrak reservation. Amtrak bus services will also need an Amtrak reservation. Rail 2 Rail passes are not eligible.Bus service connecting Coaster stations will not be available, but some passengers may have BREEZE Route 101 or MTS connections available.While no passenger rail service will operate on the corridor during these times, other vehicles and equipment will be in use. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County officials will challenge a ruling that allows local strip clubs to operate while several other businesses are closed or limited under California's new stay-at-home order.San Diego County's Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 in a closed session on Tuesday, with Supervisors Kristen Gaspar and Jim Desmond voting no, to appeal any "adverse ruling" to a hearing over whether to allow strip clubs to remain open.The businesses sued to county and state in October over COVID-19 restrictions that forced them to close indoor operations. A judge issued a preliminary injunction on Nov. 6 that protects the businesses from any enforcement, though the businesses must comply with rules surrounding a 10 p.m. curfew and close early.RELATED: State says San Diego County playgrounds can remain open during stay-at-home orderSupervisor Nathan Fletcher said on Wednesday that the board will have a hearing before a judge.
