SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 6,000-gallon tanker carrying highly flammable ethanol overturned in Mission Valley Thursday afternoon, prompting a hazmat response. The tanker overturned near the intersection of San Diego Mission Road and Rancho Mission Road near SDCCU Stadium after 3:30 p.m. The entrance to the stadium was closed as crews cleared the scene. Authorities said 40-60 gallons of ethanol spilled and made their way to a nearby storm drain. Crews were able to prevent the ethanol from entering the San Diego River.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, crews drilled into the tank to remove additional fuel.The driver was injured as a result of the crash and was taken to the emergency room. His injuries are unknown at this time. SDFRD officials said the driver tried to make a 90-degree turn when the semi overturned. At around 2 a.m. Friday, crews were able to move the truck upright.Roads that were closed by the incident were expected to be reopened by 6 a.m. 986

"It's very simple: with this research, Dr. Smith is working on behalf of everybody, to save us, to save the world."At the onset of the pandemic, Smith and his team began to investigate methods that would increase the efficiency of testing as well as understand the disease process -- how the virus mutates and spreads within a population. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A burglary at a shuttered salon in the College Area has dealt a 'punch to the gut' to an owner struggling to keep her business open.Just before 6 a.m. Sunday morning, video shows someone at the door of 'DO Beauty Boutique on El Cajon Boulevard. In the video, the door can be heard being pried open for several minutes, before the burglar lets himself in. Another intruder soon follows. With flashlights shining, they go shopping for more than 20 minutes before ripping down the surveillance camera."It's gut-wrenching. Just trying not to cry," said salon owner Tiffany Schaaff.Schaaff who opened the salon three years ago."They cleaned us out. Definitely a punch to the gut," said Schaaff.Shelves full of retail hair products are now empty. Also missing were tools of the trade, including flat irons, blow dryers, and scissors. The thieves even took drawers to carry out their haul.The total loss, including damage to the front door, is now at ,000 and climbing. Schaaff has insurance, but even the deductible is a hardship."Very trying. Definitely a month-to-month situation as to whether we are going to continue," said Schaaff.The salon is in its third shutdown of the pandemic. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A jury has reached a verdict in the trial of a woman accused of drunkenly dragging her co-worker with her car before fatally running him over in Kearny Mesa.Latisha Ingram, 33, was convicted of second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and drunken driving in the death of 25- year-old Ha Minh Ta.Prosecutors say Ingram, Ta, and a group of co-workers went out for drinks on Convoy Street last June, when Ingram tried to driver herself home. Ta tried to stop her, eventually grabbing the door of her car. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested after police say he set fire to a Chula Vista pro-rent control office.According to Chula Vista Police, Christopher Treyvoun Jenkins was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including burglary and arson.On Friday, Police responded to a burglary alarm at the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment.When they arrived, officers noticed a large plume of smoke coming from the suite. The Chula Vista Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.
