French President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, according to CNN and the Associated Press.Macron's office confirmed Thursday that the 42-year-old Macron received a test after experiencing symptoms of the virus, which later came back positive.Macron will isolate himself for seven days but will continue to carry out his duties as president remotely.Macron's wife, Brigitte, 67, has no symptoms but will also self-isolate. She tested negative for the virus on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.According to CNN, Macron has met with several other world leaders in recent days, many of whom have now said they plan to isolate. Among them is Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and European Council President Charles Michel. French Prime Minister Jean Castex is also self-isolating.The Associated Press also reports that Macron met with the prime minister of Portugal on Wednesday.Macron's planned trip to Lebanon next week has been canceled.Macron is just the latest world leader to test positive for the virus. President Donald Trump contracted the virus in October, which resulted in a short stay in the hospital. FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Heading to the airport? Pack your worries.  Every day, billions of germs are left all over Southwest Florida International Airport.Biology professor Cliff Renk from Florida Gulf Coast University and student Matt Glass joined us as we took a microscopic look at all the germs we encounter when we fly into and out of the airport. The professor swabbed all sorts of surfaces and using a monitor that counts the number of germs. A reading of 300 on the meter indicates a normal amount of bacteria.One elevator button registered 418. The handles on those luggage carts: a nasty 532.  Escalator handles were about the same but loaded with bacteria colonies. The buttons on the ATM machine in the main concourse were home to almost 80 different colonies of bacteria. But that's just the beginning. If you're flying, everyone needs to go through the security checkpoint.  And the bin you place your phone in -- which you hold to your face -- might be the same one the person before it put his shoes in following a visit to the bathroom. They could carry staph, which can cause pimples, boils and in some cases flesh-eating bacteria. There are about 1000-1500 TSA plastic bins that we place our stuff in when we go through security. We tested the first bin and its handles; it came in came below the normal level. The second tested at more than two times higher.  The third, well that's a different story. Even though the number was 611, Professor Renk says some stomach-churning germ colonies  - more than 300 - were lurking on board, including fecal bacteria and other bacteria generally found on the bottom of shoes. Reps from both the airport and the TSA tell us it's important we remember any public space is a breeding ground for germs and to bring and use hand sanitizer or wipes at all times.  Finally, they say to wash your hands frequently. And speaking of hands we did one last test on reporter Frank Cipolla's hands to show you what any one of us might be lugging around at any moment. He spent all morning at the airport and shook about a dozen hands. Remember, 300 is a normal reading. His right hand registered about 3000.The TSA says it would cost too much money to put hand sanitizer dispensers in every airport in America, so a warning to all travelers. Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has been picked by President-elect Joe Biden to run the Energy Department, the Associated Press confirmed and was first reported by Politico.The department plays a key role in helping develop the technologies needed to fulfill Biden's pledge to move the country off fossil fuels.Granholm served two terms as Michigan's Governor and is experienced in dealing with the auto industry, which could be an advantage as the president-elect seeks to speed up the roll out of electric vehicles and the network of charging stations used to power them.If confirmed, Granholm would be the second woman to lead the department since its creation in 1977."She really worked very hard in 2016 to place herself as Energy secretary with the Clinton team," said Skip Pruss, the director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth under Granholm. Ford is recalling about 350,000 trucks for a problem that could cause them to roll even after the driver shifts into park.The automaker says the issue affects 2018 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition vehicles with 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmissions.Ford says a piece of equipment on the affected vehicles can become dislodged over time, which means the car won't be in the gear that it looks like it's in, such as park.This means that if the driver shifts the car into park, the car might not actually be in park — and there would not be a warning message to indicate that. If he or she doesn't use a parking brake, Ford says the vehicle could roll.Ford says it's aware of one reported accident and injury.The company is also recalling more than 100 other vehicles for a missing transmission roll pin. If the pin is missing, the company says that the transmission on those vehicles might eventually lose the ability to park, even if the driver shifts the car into that gear.Ford says that problem affects around 160 of the 2017 and 2018 Ford F-150s, 2018 Ford Expeditions, 2018 Lincoln Navigators and 2018 Ford Mustangs with 10R80 transmissions.  1231

Ford Motor Company has launched a new program that will allow customers who buy a new car to return the vehicle if they lose their job within a year of the purchase."We feel like right now, the economy is at the stage of recovery where people want things to be back to normal, they want to buy, but they're still a little nervous about what the future holds," Mark LaNeve, Ford's vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service said. "We want them to know we understand that, and we're here to support them in their buying decisions."Under the "Ford Promise" program, customers who lease or purchase a vehicle with Ford Credit financing and then lose their job within a year can return the vehicle.Ford Credit will value the vehicle using the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) average trade-in value, reduce the customer's outstanding balance by that amount and waive up to an additional ,000. The customer is responsible for covering any remaining balance.In addition, the customer is responsible for outstanding late or deferred payments and any vehicle damage. Once those conditions are met, the account is reported as closed and paid.Enrollment for the Ford Promise program is open through Sept. 30.According to Matt VanDyke, Ford's director of U.S. marketing, the ad campaign focuses on supporting consumers eager to move forward."Customers are realizing it might take a while for things to completely feel normal again, if in fact, they ever do," VanDyke said.Ford Promise covers 2019, 2020 and 2021 purchased or leased new, used and certified pre-owned vehicles financed through Ford Credit.
