SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heart transplant saved his life but took away a San Diego doctor's ability to treat his patients. That is until technology gave him that back too. "I can't be around sick people because the immunosuppressant medications I have to take for the rest of my life will cause me to get sick much more easily," said Dr. Murray Alsip.For five long months, Dr. Alsip sat in the ICU, waiting for a heart. He'd been living with a serious heart condition for 17 years. After several false alarms, his call finally came. The doctor would soon receive 20-year-old Mathieu Bergeron's heart; the young man died tragically in a skateboarding accident. Alsip was able to meet his donor's mother eight months after the transplant. "She's such a wonderful person, a giving and caring person. That meeting was wonderful, she had so much to say about him and the things he liked to do and about the person he was and about his energy," said Dr. Alsip. With his new heart beating strong, Alsip could once again do many of the things he loved, liked hiking. And while he could no longer practice in an office, Alsip knew he had to continue practicing medicine somehow. So he looked into a more modern form of medicine and discovered the telemedicine provider MDLive. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new program in San Diego will offer people as much as ,000 to trade in their gas-powered cars for an electric vehicle.In October, the County Board of Supervisors approved the Clean Cars 4 All program. Starting in 2020, the County will get million per year to help low-income families go electric."The problem with electric vehicles is the upfront cost of purchase," says County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. A 14-gallon car that gets filled up four times per month would cost around ,400 per year. That money could now go back into a family's budget. The same goes for oil changes and many types of car maintenance."When you talk about not having to change oil and not having to maintain and internal combustion engine, you take a big part out of it," says Cole Lowenfield, the General Manager of Mossy Ford in Pacific Beach.In addition to the Clean Cars 4 All program, there are 26 other state and federal grants and tax incentives available to people who want to go electric. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Point Loma woman said a man took photos of her chest as she was walking into the Ralphs grocery store on Rosecrans Boulevard on Tuesday morning. It was around 9 a.m. when Julie Buerckley noticed a man standing by the entrance and as she got closer she says he began snapping photos on his phone.  "He was taking pictures of me but it wasn't of my whole body, it was just of my chest," said Buerckley.Buerckley told 10News she ran inside to tell someone, but by the time employees came out the man was long gone. She said there's no telling how long he'd been there or who else he'd taken pictures of. "I'm worried about kids getting pictures taken when their parents aren't paying attention and stuff," Buerckley said. "That's what I'm worried about."She described the man as being tall, and wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.  906

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego judge has ruled that demolition of the historic California Theatre would violate environmental law.The theatre, which was built in 1926, was the largest vaudeville and movie palace in San Diego.City Council approved the demolition of the theatre in 2017. The proposed demolition, however, required an environmental impact report.RELATED: San Diego approves replacement for dilapidated California Theatre?The legal challenge to the approval, filed by the Save Our Heritage Organization, said the city failed to adequately address the ability to adapt and reuse the California Theatre.The court granted SOHO’s legal petition because the review failed to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act.The demolition approved by the city would have allowed a 40-story skyscraper to be built that would have included 282 residential units."The California Theatre is an outstanding historic building that has been standing for almost 100 years, it presents many opportunities for successful adaptive reuse to revitalize the C Street corridor. When the City's EIR failed to study alternatives to demolition, we put our faith in the Court to enforce CEQA. We are grateful for the Court's comprehensive enforcement of environmental law and look forward to review of an alternative in an EIR that will allow this historic building to survive as part of a successful new project. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was stabbed to death in a Pacific Beach bathroom Sunday, and a man possibly linked to the incident was arrested, according to San Diego Police.SDPD officials said the stabbing was reported just after 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Grand Avenue as an assault with a deadly weapon with an injured man.Firefighters and lifeguards were the first arrive, and they found a 39-year-old white male bleeding from the upper torso in a men's bathroom, according to police. First aid was given within minutes and the man was taken to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.Police said witnesses reported seeing a man riding away from the scene on a bicycle immediately following the incident. A man matching witness descriptions was detained about a quarter-mile away from the scene and was questioned, according to SDPD officials.On Monday, officials announced 33-year-old Martin Alvarez was arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.Police are not aware of any relationship between the victim and the suspect.Police are looking into whether cameras at nearby businesses have any video of the events surrounding the stabbing.
