HARARE, May 31 (Xinhua) – The Communist Party of China (CPC) and Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote political exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.This was disclosed by Wang Gang, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, who is leading a high-powered delegation to Zimbabwe.Speaking during a meeting with Zimbabwean Vice President Joice Mujuru and senior Zanu-PF officials on Monday, Wang said the agreement will enable the two parties to consolidate relations and work together in exploring new ways to enhance ties."Guided by this memorandum of understanding for the next five years, our party-to-party relations will have a more in-depth development," Wang said, adding the MOU will see the two parties increasing high level exchange visits and sharing experiences."We very much cherish the friendship between Zimbabwe and China. We view Zimbabwe as a reliable friend and good partner," he said.Wang added China will continue to render assistance to Zimbabwe to help it develop its economy.Wang also called on Western nations to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe to expedite economic recovery in the country.Mujuru paid tribute to China for its economic and political support to Zimbabwe over the years."We know it has not been easy for China to stand by us over difficult times but as Zimbabwe we are grateful for the support," she said.She said Zanu-PF was interested in further developing its relations with CPC, especially in the area of youth and women training and political exchange programs.Wang and his delegation will be in Zimbabwe for three days.

SIRTE, Libya, March 27 (Xinhua) -- China expects that the Arab summit in Libya can coordinate the inter-Arab relations and make achievements in the Palestinian cause, a senior Chinese diplomat said here on Saturday."We hope the Arab countries could coordinate internal relations and achieve positive results in reconciliation among Palestinian factions as well as the resumption of Palestinian-Israeli talks at the summit," said China's Special Envoy to Middle East Wu Sike in an interview with Xinhua on the sidelines of the 22nd Arab Summit in the Libyan city of Sirte.As a special representative of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Wu attended the opening ceremony of the summit at the invitation of the Arab League Secretariat. He transmitted a letter of Chinese President Hu Jintao to the Arab leaders."I will convey a strong message of China that we attach great importance to relations with the Arab world, and wish to promote further developments of such relations in the future," Wu said.Wu said China and the Arab world have a long history of friendly relationship. ISLAMABAD, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese embassy official Tuesday called on an official of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to donate 30,000 U.S. dollars on behalf of the China Red Cross Society (CRCS) to assist the residents affected by the landslide in northern Pakistan early this year.Muhammad Ilyas Khan, PRCS secretary general, asked Yao Jing, counselor of the Chinese embassy to Pakistan, to convey his appreciation to the CRCS for its generous donation to Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan due to the landslide in January, 2010.He said that Chinese friends always extend assistance to Pakistan in difficult times and Pakistan is proud of its friendship with China.At present, the local government and PRCS are working hard to provide relief to the villages. We must oppose protectionism of any form to safeguard and consolidate the system," said the document.On cooperation in environmental protection, the leaders said the three countries should jointly push for achievements at the climate change summit to be held in Mexico this year, including an effective international cooperation framework in this regard after 2012, under the principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, especially the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.On regional peace and stability, the three leaders said the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula is very much conducive to lasting peace, security and economic prosperity in Northeast Asia."Therefore, we will make efforts to achieve the goals set in the Sept. 19 joint statement in 2005 through the Six-Party talks," the document said.The three leaders also pledged to exchange information on food safety standard, to report detected problems in a timely manner and take preventive measures, and to improve food security.
