She was terrified," said husband Omar Torres.Torres says she found the front unlocked and the French doors leading into the family room open."They had kicked it open and splintered it up near the top," he said.Inside the house, the bedroom drawers were open and Shannon's jewelry boxes were gone and along with them, dozens of pieces of jewelry.Among the missing items: a pearl necklace from her aunt that Shannon wore at her wedding, diamond earrings from her husband for their anniversary, and a silver-and-gold bird necklace. The latter was a Mother's Day present. The couple have three sons, ages eight, six and three."It's very sad. Heartbreaking," said Torres.That feeling was made more intense when they realized what else was in the jewelry boxes: a yellow-and-white flash drive on a key ring and a black SanDisk memory stick. EL CAJON (CNS) — A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday evening in El Cajon.The crash occurred at the intersection of Dehesa and Sycuan roads about 9:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The details of the collision were not immediately available.The vehicle that hit the woman left the scene before CHP units arrived, the department reported.She died at the scene and her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, the CHP said.A description of the hit-and-run driver and vehicle were not immediately available. 560

(KGTV) — A family jewelry shop in El Cajon is out tens of thousands of dollars after a brazen robbery Friday.A couple entered Ishtar Jewelry Store on Avocado Avenue and began browsing around. It was a seemingly ordinary evening."They were looking for different pieces of jewelry, bracelets, necklaces," said Nadin Toma, the store owner's daughter. "My mom was the one who was helping them out. The female found a piece that she liked."After that, Toma said the woman claimed she needed to get her wallet from the car to purchase the piece of jewelry."Our door to get in is an electric door," explained Toma. "We have to buzz anyone in and out just for security purposes."So, the woman was buzzed out, but Toma said she held the door open.That's when the man by her side made his move, jumping over the display counter, snatching up a handful of gold chains, then running out of the wide-open front door."They just grabbed and ran as fast as they could," Toma said. "They got away."Toma estimates the cost of the gold chains were anywhere from ,000 to ,000.But, the thief also left something behind. His fanny pack hooked onto the front door and broke off his body as he ran away.Toma said inside the fanny pack was the suspect's identification card, which she gave to police.She also said a Good Samaritan wrote down the license plate number of the car the couple used to get away."With any robbery, it's very painful for anyone who goes through it," said Toma. EL CAJON (KGTV) — Parents and coaches near El Cajon are searching for the man who turned their little league field into a dumping ground."Had me angry from the moment I saw it," said Travis Hudson.Hudson is president of the Rios Canyon Little League. He showed us the old 17-foot-boat and trailer now resting just past the right field fence. Hudson says on Sunday afternoon, a man driving an old, white Dodge Ram truck dumped the boat and some tires, before coming back and unloading another a 20-foot boat. Hudson says one of his coaches confronted the man when he returned with another load, which included jet skis. The man claimed he was having issues with his truck and would return later to pick up the items. He never did.Hudson says near the dumpster, he found more items."Black bags and furniture items, which waste management picked up. Now we have stuff that has overflowed on the side, including clothes," said Hudson.After Hudson posted photos on Facebook, he believes a member of the community picked up the 20-foot boat, but the other boat remains."It hurts because the kids are going to be impacted," said Hudson.Hauling the boat away will come right out of their tight budget."We're spending money to get grass repaired, to get facilities repaired.
