A new survey of parents nationwide finds nearly a third say the benefits of gathering with extended family for the holidays are worth the risk of spreading or getting the coronavirus, and almost 3-in-5 plan to see extended family in person.This is according to a poll conducted by the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in partnership with the University of Michigan. They heard from almost 1,500 parents with at least one child 12 or younger.Among parents who usually see extended family, outside their household, on Thanksgiving, 61 percent said they still plan to meet in-person in some way for the holiday this week. However, only 18 percent of those family get togethers are planning to include people from out-of-state.“For many parents, holidays mean sharing special rituals across different generations and opportunities for children to connect with grandparents, cousins, and other relatives,” Sarah Clark, M.P.H., a co-director at Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health, said.“Our report suggests that while many children have spent less time with relatives during the pandemic, some parents may have a hard time foregoing holiday gatherings in order to reduce COVID-19 risks.”Of those planning to get together in person, some parents say they are considering changes because of the pandemic. These include asking people with symptoms or recent exposures not to attend, limiting contact between young children and elderly guests, keeping guests socially distant when possible, and wearing masks indoors.Nearly two-thirds of those planning to get together in-person said they would not invite certain family members who have not been practicing safety precautions like wearing a mask in public.Clark warns parents that these conversations with family members could get uncomfortable.“It may be difficult to maintain distance between children and high risk adults throughout a multi-day visit or even during a lengthy dinner,” Clark said in a release about the survey. “Parents should be realistic about how feasible it will be to limit contact and think carefully about whether to gather in person with high-risk family members.”The findings are being published as coronavirus cases are spiking in America, reaching 12 million positive cases since the pandemic started, an increase of 1 million positive cases in just six days. A report prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee said Russian social media efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election included messaging in support of the Green Party 2016 presidential nominee Jill Stein.CNN obtained the report, prepared by New Knowledge, which said the Russian government-linked Internet Research Agency -- a well-known troll farm -- utilized all major social media platforms, and its efforts online included messaging in support of Stein's third party presidential effort.CNN has reached out to Stein for comment on the report.The mentions of Stein online came alongside related and disparate messages noted throughout the report, which said the Internet Research Agency's themes ranged from support for Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and the Black Lives Matter movement to the Tea Party and gun rights.A summation of the report's findings on "comprehensive anti-Hillary Clinton operations" said while the group's assumed Twitter personas had some pro-Clinton content, "the developed Left-wing Twitter personas were still largely anti-Clinton and expressed pro-Bernie Sanders and pro-Jill Stein sentiments."Likewise, the report said "pro-Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein content" were among the group's go-to themes across other platforms.The report's assertion about support for Stein echoed similar accounts in the past about Russian influence online. A New York City woman is taking to social media in hopes of using her voice and her story to make a difference for Black women fighting breast cancer. According to the CDC, breast cancer death rates are 40 % higher among Black women then white women.Suzette Simon wears a superhero costume to chemotherapy, and says, she's armed with superhero strength. She's also taking social media by storm, filming things like "live from chemo.""I’ll do a dance duet but then at the bottom, I’ll say yah I’m dancing, but I want you to know 40% of Black women who get cancer die from it,” Simon said.For Simon, this fight is personal. It started 30 years ago when her mom, Aline, a Black woman who had no health insurance, died alone in a New York public hospital at age 62.“I don’t think she had an advocate and I think that’s part of the reason why I do this, because she didn’t have an advocate,” Simon said.“Now that I’m going through my own cancer, I want to use it to advocate for others. I want to use my superpowers,” Simon said. “I come from television. My background is comedy and so I have superpowers. I want to make people happy I want to make people laugh.”She was diagnosed in January and has decided to put her creativity and energy on the internet. She hopes to educate and empower black women.“Harriet Tubman had strong Black boobs, Rosa Parks had strong Black boobs, but they didn’t have a superhero, and 42% of those strong Black boobs got cancer,” Simon said. “Maybe not them, but there are a lot of heroic women with strong Black boobs that got cancer so I’m here to be that superhero for those women with strong Black boobs.”The CDC states that breast cancer is found earlier in white women and that the number of cases is higher among Black women who are younger than 60 years old.Dr. Caroline Elistin, assistant dean of faculty at Chamberlain University College of Nursing, says there's a reason behind the disparities in healthcare.“I believe that trust has something to do with it. In the current workforce diversity amongst physicians is limited- you want the individual who is caring for you and trust them -when they look like you,” said Dr. Elistin said, who works in medical oncology in South Florida. She says breast cancer is just one of the types of cancer she treats.“Mounting evidence suggests when physicians and patients share the same race or ethnicity, it improves the time spent together the medication adherence the decision making- wait times with treatment as well,” Dr. Elistin said.Those in poorer areas she says, don't have the same opportunities, which leads to a lack of success. And that is just one aspect of the societal problem.“Has this breast surgeon ever worked with Black women? It became a journey,” Simon said. “I was not going to be my mom, in a hallway trying to get help. I was not going to be that person.”The #strongblackboobs movement lives on, she says, through smiles and joy, even in pain.“And just laughing through the most difficult time of life- it's a funny time- when you know you could die it's the funniest time ever- you’ve gotta have a good time,” Simon said.And she says, you have to spread the message of awareness, which is just one aspect of her movement to make a difference. 3253

A Pennsylvania woman is accused of stabbing an 8-day-old baby last week, claiming the child was created "by the devil," WPXI-TV reported.According to WPXI, Tanishia Fielder, 32, was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after a man reported to police that he and the infant were stabbed by Fielder.Both the man and infant survived the incident, but their exact conditions were not disclosed. Fielder reportedly stabbed the infant near the baby's right eye. Fielder told police that God told her to kill the infant and dismember the body. The police said they found the knife hidden beneath a garbage bin behind the apartment building, WPXI reported.The man involved told police he and Fielder got into an argument earlier in the day and he saw her with a knife. 826
