ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - One of the two victims killed in a crash in Escondido Sunday night has been identified as 19-year-old Ana Lira.The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on El Norte Parkway and Ash Street, according to Escondido police.A witness told 10News he believed a Dodge Charger ran a red light and collided with a Ford Mustang in the intersection.Police confirmed one of the cars ran a red light, but they could not confirm which car committed the violation.One person was ejected from the Mustang and landed in the front yard of a nearby home. That person was declared dead at the scene, and another person inside the Mustang was also killed in the crash.The Charger’s driver and another person from the Mustang were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The crash forced police to close El Norte Parkway between Conway Drive and Fig Street. Ethan Couch, known for his "affluenza" defense in his deadly drunk driving case, was released from a Texas jail Monday after serving nearly two years behind bars for violating his probation.Couch, 20, first made headlines as a teenager when he was sentenced to probation for a drunken driving crash that killed four people and seriously injured two others.Prosecutors in that 2013 case sought 20 years in jail, but Couch received no prison time after a psychologist testified that Couch was a victim of "affluenza," a product of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits for him.The decision by the juvenile court judge to put him on probation for 10 years outraged victims' families and anti-drunk driving advocates.In 2015, Couch violated the terms of his probation and fled to Mexico with his mother, Tonya Couch. They were found and sent back to the US, where a Texas judge ordered nearly two years of jail time for Couch.Mothers Against Drunk Driving described the two years Couch has spent in jail as "a grave injustice to the victims and their families.""The 720 days Ethan Couch served for his crimes shows that drunk driving homicides still aren't treated as the violent crimes that they are," the organization said in a statement. (KGTV) - A woman died from her injuries after being hit by a driver at an Encinitas intersection Friday.The 61-year-old victim was walking in a crosswalk at Encinitas Boulevard and Balour Drive just after 6 p.m., San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) said.SDSO said a vehicle approached the intersection while the woman was crossing and stopped to allow her to pass. A second vehicle then approached the intersection and drove around the first vehicle to continue through the intersection, knocking the woman down.She was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital - La Jolla with life-threatening injuries. She later died from those injuries. The woman's name has not been released.The driver charged with hitting the woman remained at the scene. SDSO said alcohol does not appear to be a factor. 831

(KGTV) — One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Encinitas late Saturday.San Diego Sheriff's Department reported just after 8 p.m. the person was struck in the 2500 block of S. Coast Highway 101. The driver involved remained at the scene and deputies do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor.A Sig Alert for S. Coast Highway 101 was issued as deputies investigated. FALLBROOK (CNS) - A 14-year-old Fallbrook High School student was arrested today for allegedly making an online threat to carry out a shooting at the northern San Diego County campus, authorities reported.The teen was taken into custody early Wednesday afternoon in connection with the menacing social media post, which came to light Monday evening and included a photograph of a gun, according to sheriff's officials.``No weapons were found at the juvenile's residence, and it is believed the suspect had no intention of actually following through with a shooting,'' Sgt.
