SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot several times at a party in Paradise Hills early Sunday morning. According to police, the incident happened on the 2400 block of Hopkins Street just after 2 a.m. Police say the 30-year-old was attending a party at a nearby home when an unknown suspect or suspects shot him several times. Party guests reportedly took the man to the hospital where he underwent surgery. Police say the man is expected to survive his injuries. At this time, police say there is no information on the suspect in the shooting. 580

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Most school districts in San Diego County are still figuring out how to reopen classrooms in the fall. On Wednesday, the Office of Education released new guidance on how districts and charter schools can do that safely. They put out comprehensive guidance that includes recommendations to alter many aspects of everyday life for parents, students, and teachers. It includes symptom screening, altering classroom layouts to support physical distancing. They also recommend frequently cleaning common areas, wearing face coverings, and restricting visitor access. The Grossmont Union High School District says they're currently conducting input sessions with focus groups. Their superintendent released survey results with parents, showing 59% of families want students to return to campus full-time. Meanwhile, 41% say they would prefer a blended or virtual learning option to continue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Tuesday released video of a deadly officer-involved shooting in El Cerrito. The body camera footage is being released within 45 days of the incident as part of Assembly Bill 748. The video shows the moment 52-year-old Dennis Carolino was shot by an officer. According to police, Carolino’s aunt called police the night of August 24 to report that he hit her in the head with a brick. The 70-year-old woman told police Carolino had psychiatric issues. The officers gave the man verbal commands to drop the shovel. One of the officers drew his Taser at that point. The man did not cooperate with the officers’ commands and began to rapidly advance on the officers as he swung the shovel. One officer fired the Taser, which did not have any effect on him. The man continued to advance, prompting the other officer to fire his service weapon,” San Diego Police said in a statement.San Diego Police say three seconds passed from the time Carolino left the outbuilding to the time he was shot. Officers provided aid to Carolino until paramedics arrived, but he died shortly after. Officer Jose Mendez, a 16-year veteran of the department, fired his Taser, SDPD said. On Wednesday, Fashion Valley will announce a project to add what it describes as inviting public spaces, enriched landscaping, broader dining and gathering places, tranquil outdoor lounges and water features, and increased personal shopping and valet services. It's the mall's biggest project since it added a second story in the mid-1990s. Vicki Hanor, a senior vice president with Simon Malls, said in a statement Fashion Valley is home to more than 50 retailers exclusive to San Diego, and prides itself on providing the ultimate shopping and dining experience.
