Signs are a staple during any election season. But as the signs across the nation start to come down post-midterm election, there’s one that’s staying up.“This is the message that will bring us back together after the election,” says Father Jadon Hartsoff.The sign reads, “Love your neighbor who doesn’t look like you, think like you, love like you, speak like you, pray like you, vote like you. Love your neighbor, no exceptions."Those 28 words are what Father Hartsoff thought of a few months ago, after seeing the tension among politicians, even in his own parish.The goal, he says, was to change the conversation in his congregation."What we wanted to do is try to create some sort of statement that brought people together and that rose above politics,” Father Hartsoff says.But he got a lot more than that. A single photo of the banner ignited on social media and was shared over 77,000 times!Father Harstoff is still beaming."Like, I can't even believe that it's amazing."The next thing he knew, people wanted to share the message offline."We've had orders for over 700 of them around the country, into Canada, several in the UK," he says.The public demand for the banner keeps growing, and Hartsoff hopes it's a sign of things to come. 1251

Senator Lindsay Graham has been in office since 2003, and on Tuesday, he secured his fourth term in the Senate by defeating Democrat Jamie Harrison.Around 10 p.m. ET, the Associated Press projected Graham will win reelection. State Senator Marlon Kimpson says Harrison beat a record by raising the most money ever earned by a U.S. Senate candidate.“Who would have ever thought that an African American from a deeply red state would outraise his opponent and raise a sum of 0 million and lead in the polls,” Kimpson said.State Senator Kimpson says Harrison would like to expand access to affordable healthcare and take on criminal justice reform.On the other hand, Senator Graham is known in the Senate for his advocacy of a strong national defense and aggressive interventionist foreign policy.“We looked to Senator Graham for a level of calmness, a reasonable and principled approach. Particularly when he was paling around with Senator John McCain. We looked to those two Republicans to be truly bipartisan and advocate for their respective states,” Kimpson said.However, State Senator Kimpson says U.S. Senator Graham had shown a very partisan approach since President Donald Trump got elected. City Councilor Perry Keith Waring agrees.“Believe it or not I have been a fan of Lindsey Graham for a lot of years. But it seems to me since John McCain died, he is not the moderate voice or somewhat independent thinking person that he once was," Waring said.KJ Kearney, a voter in his 30s, says Harrison understands the voice of all people. “I think the thing that he does understand is Black people are not a monolith. There are conservative Black people, there are liberal Black people, there are all types. And I think he sees the humanity in us and will accept us as the totality of Blackness and not just the Black block that voted for him or didn’t vote for him," Kearney said. SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Evacuees from the Valley Fire began to head home Thursday morning as Cal Fire lifted evacuation orders throughout the area."We're trying to head out early," said Deehorn Valley resident Dale Elliott. "That way we can get everything straightened up, cleaned up try to put things back."Elliott's family is one of 140 families the Red Cross helped over the last week. Evacuees were offered food, first aid, hotel rooms and more.Red Cross Regional CEO Shawn Mahoney said they served 1,200 meals on Wednesday alone.This was Elliott's first time having to evacuate, and he told ABC 10News, "With the dogs and my mother-in-law visiting and all of our stuff, we thought we should evacuate just to be on the safe side.”Elliott checked on his home Tuesday to make sure it hadn't been damaged in the fire. He said he'll have to clean out the refrigerator, but that's the only issue.Many others weren't as lucky.Cal Fire said 30 homes and 29 other buildings were destroyed in the fire. As the Valley Fire continues to burn, some areas are still under evacuation orders or warnings.The Red Cross says they will keep the shelters open as long as they're needed. 1186
