(KGTV) - "Flippy," the burger-flipping robot introduced recently at a Pasadena, Calif., burger restaurant, has been taken offline after one day on the job.The robot was taken off the line, in fast-food terms, at CaliBurger, BBC News reported, after it was unable to keep up with demand. Miso Robotics introduced the robot as a potential replacement to human cooks. So the burger-flipping robot has been switched off until coders can update it.RELATED: This robotic arm is designed to flip burgersInterest and news about Flippy's "hiring" created an increased demand at the restaurant, leading to more orders than it could handle.CaliBurger is reportedly working with staff to make sure the kitchen is working around Flippy as efficiently as possible as well. The restaurant hopes to eventually deploy Flippys in more of its locations.Miso Robotics says Flippy can detect when raw burger patties are placed on the grill and monitors each one. A cloud-based software from the company keeps track of the cook time and alerts workers when it's time to dress the burger patty.RELATED: San Diego-based Jack in the Box suggests more kiosks, fewer cashiers as minimum wage risesFlippy will be able to cook up to 2,000 burgers a day, the company touts. (KGTV) - Having healthy kids is important. But how do you know what kind of physical, social or emotional development your child may need? Here are some tips from some of our local experts. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BASICS OF CHILDHOOD WE CAN EASILY TAKE CARE OF?* Making sure your child is up to date with medical and dental check-ups; including immunizations.* Focusing on some issues you need to control and be firm about. Making sure there is no argument around safety issues like putting them in a car seat, using bike helmets or playing near traffic.* Create routines and keep them; set limits. This will in turn make your child feel secure and safe. HOW CAN WE RAISE STRONG AND INDEPENDENT KIDS?* Assign simple tasks such as feeding pets or putting toys away.* Allow your child to participate in decision making – let them pick out which vegetables to have for dinner; don’t give open ended. * Encourage independence in bathing and dressing; brushing their teeth or choosing to what shirt to wear or even learning to put their shoes on.* Give children their space to be creative, choosing activities and fail with support. HOW DOES THE YMCA HELP BUILD SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD?* 90% of brain development happens in first 5 years of life.* Children learn through play. Our programs support parents and early childhood educators.* Understand what is developmentally appropriate at various stages. Each child develops at different rate but know the stages of a 3-year old versus a 5-year old.* Set realistic expectations; remember they are still learning.* Spend quality one-on-one time with children by reading or playing games. (KGTV) -- A woman traveling with her daughter was arrested after Border Patrol agents found nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.The arrest and seizure occurred July 21 during a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5 in San Clemente, Customs and Border Protection officials said.According to CBP officials, an agent patrolling the area stopped a 2003 Honda Accord and asked the 38-year-old female driver for permission to search the car. After obtaining permission, the agent’s K-9 was alerted to something, prompting an in-depth inspection. The agent then found 28 bundles of meth inside the Accord’s gas tank.CBP officials said the bundles, weighing a total of 28.88 pounds, all tested positive for methamphetamine. The drugs were turned over to the DEA, and Border Patrol agents seized the car.Agents arrested the woman, a U.S. citizen; her six-year-old daughter was placed with child protective services. 933

(CNN) -- President Donald Trump on Friday had a lot to say about toilets, sinks and showers. The President claimed Americans are flushing their toilets "10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once" and argued that they are having difficulty with washing their hands in what appeared to be a tangent about low-flow sinks and toilets."We have a situation where we're looking very strongly at sinks and showers and other elements of bathrooms where you turn the faucet on -- and in areas where there's tremendous amounts of water, where the water rushes out to sea because you could never handle it, and you don't get any water," the President said during a roundtable with small business leaders about deregulatory actions."You turn on the faucet and you don't get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out. Just dripping out, very quietly dripping out," the President continued, lowering his voice as he spoke about the drips. "People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once."It wasn't entirely clear what he was talking about but it appeared to have to do with bathroom fixtures with low-flow appliances. He said the Environmental Protection Agency was looking into the issue on his suggestion."They end up using more water. So (the) EPA is looking at that very strongly at my suggestion," Trump said, though he did not give details on what suggestions, if any, he made. Video of the President's comments has been viewed more than a million times online.Trump, speaking in the Roosevelt Room of the White House amid an impeachment inquiry, then turned his attention to Americans attempting to wash their hands."You go into a new building or a new house or a new home and they have standards only you don't get water. You can't wash your hands practically, there's so little water comes out of the faucet. And the end result is you leave the faucet on and it takes you much longer to wash your hands," Trump said.He went on: "There may be some areas where we'll go the other route -- desert areas -- but for the most part you have many states where they have so much water -- it comes down, it's called rain. They don't know what to do with it," to laughs from around the table. "So we're going to be looking at opening up that I believe. And we're looking at changing the standards very soon."It is also unclear what standards Trump was referring to or how they could be changing. The EPA has a voluntary program that labels efficient fixtures, such as showerheads, called WaterSense -- similar to EnergyStar for water, which helps conservation. A 1992 law also regulated showerhead pressure, but it was implemented through the Energy Department, not the EPA.The EPA said it is reviewing relevant federal programs. "EPA is working with all federal partners including Department of Energy to review the implementation of the Federal Energy Management Plan and how it's relevant programs interact with it to ensure American consumers have more choice when purchasing water products," EPA spokesman Michael Abboud told CNN.CNN has reached out to the Energy Department for comment.Touting his administration's decision to change energy standards on lightbulbs, Trump also claimed energy-efficient bulbs don't "make you look as good.""Being a vain person, that's really important to me," he said. "It gives you an orange look, I don't want an orange look." The President has made similar comments before, and the Department of Energy has moved to rescind Obama-era rules on energy efficiency. And of new car models, Trump added: "Frankly they don't work very well," because of standards which California put in place. "Right now the cars are made out of papier-mache, and ours are actually, we allow steel content," he said.In the past, the President has crusaded against windmills and wind energy. He has claimed that they create "bird graveyards" and the noise they produce "causes cancer." 3925

(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive. She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017
