IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Mayor Serge Dedina delivered the annual State of the City address Monday night. The mayor spoke to a room full of government, community, and business leaders at Burress Auditorium. The address, lasting about 30 minutes, highlighted the cities accomplishments and outlined a vision for the future.“We have one of the safest cities in San Diego County,” Dedina said when discussing the cities crime rate. He also talked about many of the infrastructure projects ahead, as well as affordable housing. The mayor also addressed the elephant in the room at the end of his speech; the ongoing issue of water quality due to Mexican sewage runoff. Dedina reaffirmed the community’s commitment to fighting for clean water and beaches.“I seem to be talking about clean beaches a lot, and since I'm a surfer, that’s fine,” he said, “But we need to redouble our efforts to expand our skate park and senior center and build a swimming pool and do all the things that most communities take for granted. He also talked about the need for more water quality testing and the lawsuit that IB has filed against the federal government, for its role in allowing raw sewage from the Tijuana ?River Valley to flow into local beaches.“We’re in court right now, the federal government twice tried having it thrown out of court, they lost. We’re going to continue to fight. If they’re smart, they’ll settle because we’re gonna win,” he added. 1454

If you've been hearing the disembodied voice of a laughing young woman or child in your home lately, there's (probably) no need to call a ghost hunter.According to The Verge, Amazon confirmed on Wednesday that "Alexa," the voice of Echo smart speakers, may cackle unprompted from time to time.In a statement to Scripps National, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the company is changing how to make Alexa laugh. "In rare circumstances, Alexa can mistakenly hear the phrase 'Alexa, laugh,'" Amazon said. "We are changing that phrase to be 'Alexa, can you laugh?' Which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance 'Alexa, laugh.' We are also changing Alexa’s response from simply laughter to 'Sure, I can laugh' followed by laughter."A number of users caught Alexa's laughter on video and posted the clips on social media, saying the laughter appeared to be unprompted, often coming in the middle of the night. So Alexa decided to laugh randomly while I was in the kitchen. Freaked @SnootyJuicer and I out. I thought a kid was laughing behind me. pic.twitter.com/6dblzkiQHp— CaptHandlebar (@CaptHandlebar) February 23, 2018 1200
If he ever enjoyed Taylor Swift's music, President Donald Trump now likes the pop star's tracks "about 25% less."Trump struck out at Swift a day after the singer and longtime Nashville resident endorsed Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen, a former governor, over Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee's Senate race."What'd she say?" Trump said with a smile when he was asked about Swift's comments on Tennessee politics, walking back toward reporters on the White House's South Lawn after hearing the pop star's name shouted at him. After being told Swift announced her opposition to Blackburn and endorsed Bredesen, Trump offered quick praise for Blackburn, who he said "is doing a very good job in Tennessee." 726
How a man who was discharged from the US Air Force for assaulting his spouse and child was able to purchase the firearms he used to carry out the deadliest shooting rampage in Texas history is just one of many questions facing investigators as they continue to look for answers on Sunday's church massacre that left 26 people dead. The House Armed Services chair called for oversight after the Air Force did not share information that would have stopped the shooter from buying a gun. 503
