A Michigan man is disgusted after an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight involving a service dog and the mess it left behind.The Bay City, Mich. man had just boarded the plane to Miami when he noticed feces all over the floor and his seat. When he alerted the crew, he said they did little to nothing to help.“Actual feces and it was all over me. I sat in it and it was on the seat, on the floor, the seat in front. And I was literally in it,” said Matthew Meehan, Delta customer.The Bay City resident said via FaceTime about the very smelly, disgusting encounter he had on a recent Delta flight from Atlanta to Miami.He said upon sitting in his seat, he and the passenger next to him quickly discovered they had sat in feces. They both ran to the front of the plane to clean off and were shocked by what the flight attendant handed them.“I have no idea why I wasn’t offered something from the biohazard kit to clean myself up with. Instead, I was handed two paper towels and one of those miniature bottles of Bombay Sapphire, a bottle of gin to clean myself with,” Meehan said.Meehan said that was just the beginning. After cleaning what he could of the feces from his hands and clothing, he said flight attendants continued to board the plane and told him there was nothing more they could do. He exited the plane to speak with a manager and said this was her response:“At the very beginning, she sighed, ‘what’s your problem?’ And it was just you know, I had to step back for a moment and say, alright, keep your composer. You do not want to be one of these people you see on the news getting kicked off a plane. Meanwhile, I’m covered in feces,” Meehan said.Meehan said he and fellow passengers were forced to lay a blanket over the mess and endure the smell for the entire two-hour flight.Delta Air Lines released the following statement:“On Nov. 1, an aircraft operating flight 1949 from Atlanta to Miami was boarded before cleaning was completed following an incident from a previous flight with an ill service animal. Delta apologizes to customers impacted by the incident and has reached out to make it right, offering a refund and additional compensation. The safety and health of our customers and employees is our top priority, and we are conducting a full investigation while following up with the right teams to prevent this from happening again. Upon landing in Miami, the aircraft was taken out of service to be deep cleaned and disinfected.”Meehan acknowledged he was offered a refund, but more importantly he hopes this incident forces Delta to look at its current policies.Meehan also said he has been contacted by dozens of lawyers since the incident, wanting to take on the case. 2709

A school district in Louisiana has acknowledged that some of its customs and practices, including sponsoring morning prayer over the public address system, have violated the First Amendment.The admission comes as part of a consent decree agreed upon by the district, Christy Cole and her daughter, Kaylee. The Coles sued in January?after saying they'd had enough of what they called forced prayer in school. In their lawsuit, they alleged the Webster Parish School District engaged in a systematic, official promotion of religion.The consent decree does not have any impact beyond Webster Parish, but ACLU lawyer Bruce Hamilton said it sets a precedent for how schools act with regards to prayer and religious proselytizing."This really is the wake-up calling and a warning shot to other school districts ... that they can't get away with it without violating the Constitution," said Hamilton, who worked with the Cole family on the lawsuit.The lawsuit sparked deep reflection and frustration in Webster Parish. Faith is deeply personal, but it's also interwoven with everything in the town.It's common to see a large cross in the front yard of a house. Seven churches dominate the two main roads in the town of Minden. A sign advertises a pest control business with a nod to a Bible verse: John 3:16. A Nevada Sheriff has taken to Facebook to apologize after leaving her gun in the bathroom of a casino.Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly left her Glock .45 in a restroom toilet stall last week at Saddle West, a hotel, casino and RV Park in Pahrump.Casino General Manager Gregg Schatzman confirmed there was a weapon recovered last week in the bathroom by a porter who was cleaning. He said the porter turned it over to security, who then turned it over to him where it was locked up until the sheriff reclaimed it.Wehrly believes the incident happened last Tuesday or Wednesday but could not confirm which day she left her gun behind. She said she was only separated from her gun for about 10 minutes. She realized it was missing and went back to the restaurant where she'd been having lunch. She says she never left the building."It's a big responsibility to have a firearm and an even bigger responsibility to make sure it's kept in a safe environment all the time. However, people are human and mistakes happen," Wehrly said. "A gun is a tool, and we should always keep track of our tools. I was remiss in this case because I was on the phone dealing with an emergency. I was blessed that someone responsible found it."Schatzman added that there's always a concern when a weapon is left in a restroom. He said leaving a gun, especially a duty weapon, is very, very serious."There was a hole and fortunately we picked it up and so we're in good shape," Schatzman said.He emphasized his high regard for the Nye County Sheriff's Office and their quick response time whenever the casino needs them.Wehrly admitted that this is not the first time she's left her gun behind, though the others, she says, were in the distant past.She recalled a 1984 incident where she left her gun at the U.S. Department of Energy headquarters in Mercury and ended up working an entire shift without it. A Solon man was conned out of 0 earlier this month after a scammer told him he was holding his father hostage with a gun to his head.According to a Solon police report, the 22-year-old victim thought the scam was real because the caller knew his name.The scammer told the victim to go to the nearest Walmart and wire the money to a person in Puerto Rico or his father would be killed. The victim, who was in Pennsylvania at the time, drove to the nearest Walmart and sent the money as requested. He paid a total of 1.50 for the transaction, including the service fee.The victim told police the whole ordeal lasted around five hours. After he wired the money, the victim reached out to his father, who said he was not in any danger and had been at work.  787
