SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University students are being warned to look out for a man who fondled a woman on campus this week.An unknown man approached a woman near the campus's music building as she was walking to Campanile Walk Thursday just before 9 p.m., according to SDSU campus police.Police said the man told the woman how pretty she was and tried to hug her. The woman tried to walk away twice and the man tried to hug her twice. police said.The man the groped the woman's buttocks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen visited San Diego Monday, making her first local stop since joining President Trump's cabinet in December.Nielsen arrived in San Diego after a long flight from South Korea, where she helped represent the United States at the Paralympics. The trip also coincides with President Trump's arrival in San Diego Tuesday.Nielsen spent most of her day with the Coast Guard. She took a helicopter ride for an aerial tour of the border wall prototype site, then gave a speech to the Coast Guardsman."True border security involves a wall system, which, of course, include the physical infrastructure, but also mission-ready agents," Nielsen said in her speech as she touched on the controversial issue of immigration.Nielsen then boarded a Coast Guard response ship to watch a tactical demonstration put on by the Coast Guard's elite Maritime Security Response Team.She will remain in San Diego to join President Trump for his ground tour of the border wall prototypes Tuesday. 1046

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's newly renamed Museum of Us will reopen to visitors this week.The museum, formerly called the Museum of Man, will reopen on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. under the state's new guidelines for museums during the coronavirus pandemic.The Museum of Us will operate at 25% capacity when it reopens and all guests will be required to wear a face covering. Other measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 include:Plexiglass is in place at the admission desk to minimize contact.Guests are required to keep 6 feet of distance between other visitors.Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the museum.Guests will be given a personal pencil to use throughout interactive exhibits.Guests will be provided a suggested linear path of travel to promote social distancing.Handrails and other surfaces throughout the museum are frequently sanitized for your safety.The museum is encouraging guests to also purchase their tickets ahead of time online or by using debit or credit cars. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's Maritime Museum is giving families the chance to spend the night on the seas — but stay in San Diego.The museum's "Family Overnight" program offers a stay aboard the Star of India, the oldest active sailing ship in the world. Families will embark on imaginary voyage learning about the lives and times of the India's passengers in the 19th century.Instructors will be in character and in costume, as they teach various ship-centric tasks like moving cargo and raising sails. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Soon after the pandemic forced Chollas Creek Elementary to close its campus back in March, parents have been able to pick up meals for their children they usually received while attending classes.To help provide this service to families, the San Diego Food Bank helps distribute boxes of food to those who need it.Food Bank CEO James Floros says the organization is now serving 47 school sites in eight different districts.Before the pandemic, the Food Bank helped around 350,000 people; that number has now doubled.With distance learning continuing into the fall, non-profits, the districts, and the county are all trying to make sure kids don't go hungry while they learn at home."We knew when COVID hit that this was going to be a marathon, not a sprint and even if we had a vaccine tomorrow and COVID went away... now we're in a recession and we could be doing this for the next couple of years," Floros said.If parents can't make it to their child's school regularly to pick up meals, they can go to the Food Bank's super pantries.There are dozens of locations all over the county, each open at least three days a week to provide groceries.In addition to the Food Bank, Feeding San Diego is also partnering with local school districts to distribute food.Both websites have sections to look up where to get food in your neighborhood and what resources are available.At many locations, all you have to do is show up, no questions asked."There's enough food for everybody they just need to reach out to the San Diego Food Bank, we'll help their families," said Floros.TO HELP OR FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE SERVICES go to:https://feedingsandiego.org/get-help/https://sandiegofoodbank.org/gethelp/ 1731
