A Ypsilanti teen says he worked hard to buy the car of his dreams, only to find out the car he had bought from a man on Craigslist was registered as stolen. Daniel O’Bryan has been balancing high school and his job at a grocery store for the past two years. He saved up enough money to buy a 2008 Trail Blazer from a man on Craigslist. O’Bryan and his family thought through their research. “My husband checked all three spots on the car to make sure the VIN number matched with the title that the gentleman had, and everything came back fine there were no red flags or anything,” O’Bryan’s mother, Kathy O’Bryan said.It was not until they had taken the car to the Michigan Secretary of State that they found out the car was listed as stolen. The rightful owner of the car is Sal’s Auto Parts out of Detroit. The owner said he lent the car to a business partner at M&G Repair, and the car was stolen outside the workers' Allen Park home. “Probably the most hurtful part was seeing my car being towed away and I didn’t even get to drive it yet,” O’Bryan said. O'Bryan says the man who sold him the car is not returning his calls. A spokesperson for the Michigan Secretary of State provided these tips for buying a car offline:  1283

A Highlands County, Florida resident has died from rabies after being bitten by a bat, the Florida Department of Health has confirmed.The DOH says that the disease was likely transmitted when the individual was bitten by the bat. They say that the individual did not seek treatment at that time and did not receive rabies post-exposure prophylaxis. The individual passed away from the rabies infection.DOH says that it is important to avoid direct contact with wildlife. If you believe you may have been exposed to rabies, including any physical contact with a bat, contact your health care provider and your county health department right away.If an exposure occurred, it is important to administer treatment in a timely manner. Actress Felicity Huffman is reportedly heading back to television to star in an upcoming ABC sitcom.A year after serving 11 days of a two-week sentence for her role in the college admissions bribery scheme, Deadline reports that Huffman is starring in a new pilot commissioned by ABC.The untitled comedy stars Huffman as a widowed woman who inherits her husband's baseball team.It was inspired by Susan Savage, who owns the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.Actor Zack Gottsagen will play Huffman's onscreen son, a baseball devotee with Down syndrome, according to The Hollywood Reporter.According to Deadline, Hartman Edwards will write and will also be an executive producer with Huffman, Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor, Joel Zadak of Artists First, and Savage. After making a go at in-person classes, a jump in COVID-19 cases on campus has prompted the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to shift to virtual only for all undergraduate courses, the university announced Monday.UNC will start distance learning on Wednesday.The university reported 129 confirmed COVID-19 cases last week, and a jump in its positivity rate from 2.8% to 13.6%. The university said it has tested 954 students with 177 in isolation and 349 in quarantine. The university said that most of the infected students have mild symptoms. The university said graduate, professional and health affairs schools will continue to be taught as they are, or as directed by the schools.UNC will allow students to cancel residence hall housing without penalty in an effort to depopulate the campus.“There are no easy answers as the nation navigates through the pandemic,” UNC President Peter Hans said. “At this point, we haven’t received any information that would lead to similar modifications at any of our other universities. Whether at Chapel Hill or another institution, students must continue to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing, as their personal responsibility, particularly in off-campus settings, is critical to the success of this semester and to protect public health.”The university’s football team is still slated to play this fall, along with other members of the ACC. Two of the five “Power 5” conferences, the Pac-12 and Big 10, have opted to delay their seasons to the spring.
