SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric says more than 21,000 residents could lose power amid a coming Santa Ana wind event.The company said Saturday it notified thousands of residents about the possibility of power outages to reduce wildfire risk both Monday and Tuesday.The outages could take place in south Orange County and north San Diego County. Click here to see a map of areas that could be affected.“The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for inland Orange County for 2 a.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Tuesday, and it has indicated that ‘any rainfall that occurs this weekend will not delay the fire weather potential for very long on early Monday,’” the company said.SDG&E says most Santa Ana winds come from the east and sweep through San Diego County’s backcountry. This event, however, is forecast to come from the north, affecting urban and coastal areas that don’t normally see public safety power outages.“Within SDG&E’s service territory, the strongest winds are expected overnight Sunday through Monday in the San Clemente and east San Juan Capistrano areas in south Orange County and the Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Pala Reservation and Fallbrook areas in north San Diego County,” SDG&E said.Drive-thru community resource centers will be available starting at 8 a.m. Monday at the Fallbrook Branch Library, 124 S. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Officers are patrolling the College Area, cracking down on noise and health order violations as San Diego teeters on the edge of the red tier for coronavirus restrictions.Friday eight cease and desist orders were issued to College Area houses. The reason being the residence "intends to hold large gatherings on Oct. 30, 2020, - Nov. 1, 2020, in blatant violation of the Order of the State Health Officer, the County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations, and CDPH's October 9, 2020 gathering guidance."Saturday on Dorothy Drive near Dorothy Way it was easy to hear music, excited yelling, and chatter from multiple homes. A steady stream of young people came and left various houses.Normally, Jean Hoeger says it gets pretty wild, but when she went out Friday, "it was pretty quiet you didn't see the hoards of kids walking on the street which is kinda common in the College Area."Hoeger is a representative of the College Area Public Safety Committee."There were parties but they all seemed to be inside small groups, loud noise was not really present so nothing you could call into the police department for a noise disturbance," Hoeger said. She said she was proud the students seem to be abiding by the rules, saying, "If they're partying inside their houses with their little group of friends that's fabulous!"Hoeger said huge parties are the most "disconcerting to us any time of the year because it's just disruptive to the whole neighborhood, when they leave most of them are drunk and unfortunately a lot of sexual assaults happen."Any San Diego State students found violating the university's Stay Home order, which lasts through Monday, Nov. 2 at 6 a.m., could face disciplinary action, up to expulsion.Since Aug. 24, SDSU has issued nearly 970 violations, according to a statement from the university."They should be afraid of the consequences of their actions, whether related to COVID or in regards to the San Diego Municipal Code with regard to noise," Hoeger said.Violating the cease and desist orders could result in a misdemeanor offense and a ,000 fine. 2135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego officials are offering a new location to help temporarily shelter migrants seeking asylum.The city says it has identified a new property to use as a shelter since its current temporary shelter doesn't have the occupancy for long-term sheltering, in a letter to California's Office of Emergency Services."The county recently vacated the Camp Barrett youth correctional facility in Alpine. The facility is already classified for residential occupancy and therefore does not require significant alteration to be used as a shelter," Robert Vacchi, deputy chief operating officer of San Diego's Neighborhood Services, wrote.RELATED: Exclusive look inside San Diego shelter for migrant asylum seekersCamp Barrett was closed in October following years of steadily decreasing populations at the county's in-custody facilities, according to the county. The remaining population was relocated to a Urban Camp facility in Kearny Mesa. The facility was capable of housing 125 boys.Camp Barrett and surrounding property is owned by the city's Public Utilities Department, but slated for sale. Vacchi writes the property could be leased to the state or third-party on a temporary basis to use as a shelter for asylum-seeking migrants.The Alliance Healthcare Foundation has agreed to fund the operation of a facility, according to Vacchi, and the city has been in talks with the agency to secure shelter operations.The city is facing a Feb. 4 deadline to vacate the current shelter being used for migrant asylum seekers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Crime Stoppers released new video Wednesday of a suspected arsonist they believe set several fires in the Point Loma and Ocean Beach areas last month.San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team investigators say during the early hours of Sept. 28, between 12:30 a.m. and 5:03 a.m., six separate fires were started in the backyards of homes. Various items were ignited, investigators say, at the following locations:12:30 a.m. - 4500 Muir Avenue1:12 a.m. - 2100 Froude Street2:22 a.m. - 4300 Piedmont Drive2:50 p.m. - 4117 Catalina Place4:04 a.m. - 4300 Monaco Street5:03 a.m. - 3900 La Cresta DriveA white, compact SUV similar to a Toyota RAV4 was seen in the 4100 block of Catalina Place just before a fire was discovered at that location, investigators added.Video and photos show a person in a hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and sandals walking in the yard of a home where one fire ignited. In the video, the person can be seen walking with what appears to be a piece of paper in one hand and cigarette in the other, before disappearing from the video. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand during the team’s loss at Arizona Sunday.Padres skipper Jayce Tingler confirmed Pham’s injury during an appearance Monday on MLB Network Radio.The injury happened during Pham’s ninth inning at-bat in Sunday’s game. The left fielder/DH fouled off a pitch and then immediately shook his left hand in apparent pain.Following a visit from the trainer, Pham exited the game, forcing the Padres to put Greg Garcia in to finish the at-bat in the eventual 5-4 loss. The Friars' loss was their fifth in a row.At the time of his injury, Pham was the tied for the MLB lead in stolen bases with six and among the league leaders in walks. Pham was batting .207 with two home runs and nine RBI in 23 games played.Pham’s stint on the injured list opens up playing time in left field for Edward Olivares, Josh Naylor, Jurickson Profar, and Jorge Mateo. 972
