SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's Registrar of Voters addressed worries over ballots that may have been filled out using Sharpies, saying the ballots will not be disqualified.Wednesday, an attorney working for President Donald Trump's campaign claimed supporters who used Sharpies on their ballots are worried that their votes are being thrown out as Arizona's vote tally continued. There's no evidence that Sharpie votes have been disqualified and the Maricopa County Elections Department has said that ballots won't be impacted because a Sharpie was used.RELATED: 'Sharpie ballots' have the attention of a Trump campaign hoping to flip ArizonaThursday, the San Diego Registrar of Voters offered a similar statement, saying Sharpies — even if they bleed through the ballot — will not disqualify votes. Part of this is because ballots are printed in an off-set pattern, meaning "bubbles" for races and measures do not overlap on each side of a ballot."Regardless, using a Sharpie does not invalidate the ballot. Our voting system prevents a situation where if a voter uses a Sharpie to vote and it bleeds through to the other side, it will not impact any 'bubbles' on the opposite side," the Registrar said.The county added that polling locations do not provide Sharpies and instead use "archival pens," which were identified to be the best writing instrument more than a decade ago."In San Diego County, we do not provide Sharpies to voters to mark their ballot. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Unified School District turned off drinking water at three schools Friday after test results showed elevated levels of lead.In a letter to parents, the district said lead levels above the district's 5 parts per billion (ppb) standard were discovered in fountains at Encanto and Birney Elementary schools. The fountains had also recently received new lead filters to address lead in drinking water.It's not clear how many fountains at the two schools tested above the 5 ppb limit. 516

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some Pacific Beach families say they no longer feel comfortable at their public library because of the homeless population."It's no longer a library it's a homeless shelter, and that's the word that's spreading."Racheal Allen spends hours each day crusading for public safety in PB. The Neighborhood Watch Block Captain is tired of seeing the same problems on repeat at the library. "Cleanliness an issue, hygiene, I would not let my kid run around barefoot here," Allen said.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodMost recently she saw the swing sets being used as a clothesline. "I've seen a lot, but when I saw that it was a slap in the face," Allen added.And another slap in the face she says, a new library policy enacted last year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Siblings are frantically searching for their missing mother, after she walked out of Hospital Angeles in Tijuana Friday afternoon, according to her family.Jessica Puente, 73, accompanied her daughter, Johnica, for a surgery. When Johnica woke up, her mother was gone. "First thing I was like where's my mom, where's my mom? And they were like we don't know where she went," Johnica said.After questioning staff, a security monitor revealed Jessica walked out while speaking with the security guard at 11 a.m. Jessica asked the guard where to exchange money, Johnica said. She thinks her mom was going to find something to eat."We'll leave no stone unturned in Tijuana," her brother said Sunday night. He and their other brother flew into San Diego over the weekend, from their Seattle home, to help with the search."We tried to call the consulate but they're closed, we um called all these hospitals, we even went to the morgue, they went to the morgue this morning to see if there are any unidentified bodies," Johnica said they filed a police report with San Diego PD, passed out fliers in Mexico and have been using their connections to churches to spread the word.Johnica described her mother as shy, and says when she gets tired, she can get a little confused. She said her mother liked to dress up with flowers in her hair, jewelry, "her jacket and her shoes, she always liked to match, even though she's almost 73." Jessica is not only a mother of three, but grandmother to a little boy and girl, both under 10-years-old.When we asked how Johnica was able to stay so calm while talking about her mother's disappearance, she replied, "I don't know I just believe that she'll come up.
