SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday released bodycam video following a deadly officer-involved shooting in Oak Park in late January. The graphic video opens with San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit explaining what led up to the shooting. According to Nisleit, officers spotted Toby Diller, 31, on the 2900 block of 54th Street with an open container of alcohol. RELATED: Officers, suspect identified in deadly Oak Park shootingNisleit says officers activated lights on their patrol car and tried to make contact with Diller, but he ran away. Video of the incident shows the officers, later identified as Benjamin Downing and Devion Johnson, running after Diller before catching up to him. At that point, Nisleit says Diller resisted arrest, grappling with police on the ground. "The officers gave him verbal commands to stop resisting, but he refused to cooperate,'' Lt. Matt Dobbs previously said. That’s when Johnson opened fire on the 31-year-old suspect. Diller died at the scene. Johnson has been with the department for two years and Downing for five. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Months ago, it wasn't clear whether Chris Fatilua would ever walk again.The Madison High School graduate and Cal football recruit suffered a serious spinal cord injury while swimming in San Diego last June.But Friday night, under the stadium lights of Madison High, Fatilua was back on his feet once again.Fatilua and his family declined to speak on camera, but off camera, they told 10News reporter Lindsey Pe?a that his care continues after receiving care at a renowned spinal cord injury hospital in Colorado this summer.RELATED: 584

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New plans for a development in the Bay Park neighborhood are aimed at providing "transit-oriented" homes amid the region's housing crunch.Protea Properties has plans for the 3.5-acre lot right off Interstate 5, between Clairemont Drive and Morena Boulevard. The site is located across from the future Blue Line Trolley Station.The development director of the project confirms the development includes 156 apartments and 40,000-square-feet of retail and restaurant spaces. Some community members are concerned with the current plans and tell 10News they hope their concerns will be heard and changes will be made. "We're trying to back the city off from slamming us with density and trying to get a project that meets everybody's needs," local James Lamattery said.Lamattery says the community is fighting for more affordable housing units and lower building heights. Right now, the plans call for two, four-story buildings and 16 apartment units for affordable housing. The city is reviewing plans before they vote on required permits. The development director says the earliest the project could be complete is 2022. 1145

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police announced that a missing 12-year-old girl who disappeared Wednesday afternoon from Allied Gardens has been found safe. San Diego Police say 12-year-old Lani Pace went missing from the 5200 block of Lewison Court before 5 p.m. after her parents left their home to run errands. Lani was at home with her 10-year-old sister, Lily, police said.When Lani's parents returned home about an hour later, she was not there and her sister didn't see her leave, according to police. Lily did see her sister get dressed as if she was leaving the house, she told police.It's unclear where Pace was located. 628
