HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Alabama police say a dispute over crab legs at a dinner buffet ended in a brawl that left two people facing misdemeanor charges.Huntsville police officer Gerald Johnson says he was eating at the Meteor Buffet restaurant when a fight broke out.Johnson tells WHNT-TV that diners were using service tongs like fencing swords and plates were shattering, and a woman was beating a man. Johnson says diners had been waiting in line for crab legs for more than 10 minutes, and they lost their tempers once the food came out.The station reports Chequita Jenkins is charged with assaulting John Chapman, who suffered a cut on his head. Chapman is charged with disorderly conduct.Court records aren't available to show whether either person has a lawyer. 776

Ice pops shipped to multiple states were recalled Monday because of concerns they may be contaminated with listeria.According to the FDA, approximately 3,000 cases of Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar Free Twin Pops, produced by the Ziegenfelder Company of Wheeling, W. Va., are part of a voluntary recall. The ice pops were distributed to grocery stores and distributors in the following states: Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The product was delivered from April 5 through April 19, 2018.No illnesses or incidents involving the product have been reported. The frozen products were sold 12 to a package under the brand names Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar Free Twin Pops. The Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops carry the UPC code 0-74534-84200-9, and have lot codes D09418A through D10018B.The Sugar Free Pops carry the UPC code 0-74534-75642-9, and have lot codes D09318A through D10018B. The voluntary recall was the result of a routine state inspection of the company’s Denver production facility which found listeria in samples collected by the inspector. The FDA said that Ziegenfelder Company has stopped the production and distribution at the plant as the state of Colorado and the company continue to investigate the problem.Consumers who have purchased the affected ice pops are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. In an election year in the middle of a global coronavirus pandemic, a new study finds the majority of Americans, about 80 percent, are confident in-person polling places will be run safely.Survey respondents also seem to agree that it is important for Americans to learn who won the election within a day or two of Election Day, about 82 percent, but only about 50 percent feel confident this will actually happen.Other questions asked on a recent Pew Research Center study appear to have strong partisan divisions. When it comes to being confident about in-person versus mail-in ballots being counted, overall 90 percent of respondents feel good about in-person ballots being counted as voters intended. The confidence in mail-in ballots being counted as voters intended differs; just 37 percent of those who support President Donald Trump say they are confident in mail-in ballots, compared to 77 percent of those who support Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. These feelings lead to a 30-point difference in which supporters are planning to cast their ballot in person on Election Day; 50 percent of Trump supporters say they will vote in-person, while just 20 percent of Biden supporters say they will.Roughly 20 percent of both Trump supporters and Biden supporters reported they had already voted or planned to vote in-person during their state’s early voting. The sides also differ on their feelings about how Election Day will be administered around the country. About 90 percent of all survey participants have confidence in their local community elections to be run well. However, 72 percent of Biden supporters feel confident about elections around the country and just 50 percent of Trump supporters feel confident about elections being run well around the country. The survey was conducted the first week of October, talking to more than 11,900 American adults. 1884

IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - A man was arrested Saturday in Imperial Beach after residents say he rushed into a home and wrecked their bathroom, leaving blood everywhere. Resident Miguel Ledesma said their front door was open to let in the breeze, "I heard some noise behind me and I turned around and the door was wide open, so I saw him rush through." The man was mumbling about being chased. Ledesma said the man backed up, tripping over the Christmas tree, knocking it over in the process, and went into the bathroom. Ledesma said that's when his brother shut the door to protect the family."There were screams, the lady who lives in there she was screaming pretty loudly," Neighbor Matthew Rodriguez said."We started hearing all these noises, all the breaking, the mirror, the shower curtain, everything in there is destroyed, there's bloody pretty much," Ledesma said. Officers finally removed the man, handcuffing him. The man was later loaded into an ambulance. He had visible cuts on his neck and arms, and a bandage around his head. Ledesma said he came in without a scratch and left bloody."It was pretty scary because we didn't know what he was going to do before the cops showed up," Rodriguez said."We're all okay, he didn't take anything, he just destroyed the bathroom pretty much," Ledesma said. He said they reached out to the property manager to get the bathroom fixed, but his mother was already cleaning with bleach. 1440

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday released a new proposal that includes .2 trillion in spending, and sends direct payment of ,200 to most Americans. The proposal still costs more than the White House has said it would like, but is down from the .4 trillion stimulus plan House Democrats passed back in May.In addition to another set of ,200 direct payments to millions of Americans, House Democrats propose using 5 million for education, more funding for the struggling airline industry, and 6 million for local governments. The set of proposals would also include a 0 per week unemployment supplement, which expired at the end of July.“This .2 trillion Heroes Act provides the absolutely needed resources to protect lives, livelihoods and the life of our democracy over the coming months,” Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats. “It includes new funding needed to avert catastrophe for schools, small businesses, restaurants, performance spaces, airline workers and others.”Last week, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin confirmed that he and Pelosi agreed to relaunch negotiations on a stimulus plan.Earlier this month, Senate Republicans attempted to pass a “slimmed down” stimulus bill with a cost of 0 billion. But that proposal failed to move out of the Senate.Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said Democrats are proposing 5 for education, when it should have said 5 million. 1449
