RAMONA, CA (KGTV) -- Thanks to the San Diego Humane Society's Project Wildlife, an orphaned mountain lion pup has a second chance at life. The Humane Society acquired the Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona on September 1st, and the very next day, the 12 week old mountain lion pup was their very first patient."We got a call from California Fish and Wildlife," says Project Wildlife Director Andy Blue. "That a firefighter had found a mountain lion cub in distress up near Idyllwild."The female cub was found semi-conscious, extremely emaciated, and dehydrated."When she first arrived here in Ramona, she appeared to be in pretty bad shape, and I wasn't sure she was going to survive."That's when the Project Wildlife team stepped in and provided the cub life saving treatment."We immediately gave her critical care supplies, got a diet syringe fed to her, and did everything we needed to do to turn it around."And a little over a month later, with the great care from Project Wildlife, Blue says the cub is expected to make a full recovery. "Now she is completely stable and will most likely be going to another facility in Arizona." You might think that once animals have rehabbed, they would be let back out into the wild.. Well that's not always the case.""Because she's had so much human contact, we really can't release her back into the wild. Our goal is to rehab animals and release them back into the wild, but in her case, it's not a good idea."The plan is to relocate the lion cub to a facility in Arizona by next week. 1548

President Donald Trump says he hopes he can end birthright citizenship in the United States with an executive order, according to an interview with Axios.In a minute-long preview of Axios' upcoming HBO series, Trump tells Axios reporter Jonathan Swan that it's "ridiculous" that any child born in the United States is automatically granted citizenship."We're the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits. It's ridiculous and it has to end," Trump said.Trump also stated that he believes the statute could be overturned by an act of Congress, though he's confident an executive order would be sufficient. RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KGTV) - Teens playing basketball in Rancho Penasquitos said they were robbed Saturday night. Police said during the pursuit of a car that matched the description, it crashed and rolled onto the roof.One suspect was injured from the crash as he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was trapped in the car and arrested.Police say two other suspects, identified as a black man in his 20s and a Hispanic man in his early 20s fled the vehicle.K9s searched the area for the suspects.Ed Solis, the father of one of the boys who was robbed, said it was his son's 18th birthday and they were celebrating at home.Toward the end of the party, the guys wanted to play basketball at Views West Park. They left their belongings in a pile and noticed a group of men stealing their wallets and phones.The teens went after the attempted robbers and were able to catch one. Solis said one of the men came back and threatened the boys, saying he had a gun and would "smoke them."The boys let the man go and then called Solis about the robbery. He rushed over, and found all the boys were safe and unharmed, but shaken.Officers caught up with the suspect vehicle at 14500 Penasquitos Drive where it flipped.Some of the boys got their items back, while others did not. 1319

Bush, 93, was hospitalized Sunday morning, less than one day after his wife's Barbara memorial service, a Bush family spokesperson said on Monday. "President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood," Bush spokesman Jim McGrath said. "He is responding well to treatments and appears to be recovering." Bush's wife of 73 years Barbara Bush died last Tuesday after a period of failing health from COPD and heart disease. President Bush was present on Saturday at his wife's memorial service, which was attended by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Bush has had several recent spells of poor health. In April 2017, Bush had an extended hospital stay after suffering from pneumonia.
