SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several San Diegans are celebrating after catching a more than 300 pound Tuna off the San Diego Coast. The biggest catch, a 321 bluefin tuna, was caught by San Diego local Andy Khwa and Robbie Ortiz from Santa Barbara.The massive catch happened during a three-day trip aboard the Aztec Sportfishing’s Aztec vessel. We were on a 3 Day trip with 24 passengers and caught over 400 bluefin and Yellowfin. Our standouts were 321 pound, 298 pound, and 292 pound Bluefin tuna,” Captain Greg Gawitt said.“We broke our personal record of a 311 pound bluefin in 2017. The smile on our passengers faces was priceless! We are headed back out this morning and can’t wait to do it again."This isn’t the first time fishermen aboard the vessel made a record-breaking catch. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University's men's basketball team has returned to the top ten in the national polls for the first time in five years, reaching number seven in the AP and Coach's Polls released Monday. The Aztecs are 15-0 to start the season, making them one of just two undefeated teams remaining in Division One. The other team is Auburn. Head Coach Brian Dutcher says the team is handling the success well, refusing to be distracted. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s newest ride is shut down for maintenance, according to Cal/OSHA.According to the agency, Tidal Twister was shut down June 1, roughly two weeks after its opening on May 24. The ride was shut down to address mechanical issues. Cal/OSHA says SeaWorld is working with the manufacturer to repair the ride. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Zoo visitors are getting their first look at two endangered Amur leopard cubs born at the zoo in April.The unnamed cubs, born April 26, will have their first veterinary exam this week which will reveal the sex of the cubs."The cubs are climbing up on the rocks, they are getting into the trees, sometimes listening to mom and sometimes not," said Kelly Murphy, senior wildlife care specialist, San Diego Zoo. "Their personalities are still developing, and I’m looking forward to see what they become."The cubs' mother, Satka, has ventured out with the newborns daily and is already showing her kids how to stalk and climb, the zoo says. The animals are being raised in the park's Africa Rocks leopard habitat.Amur leopards are the rarest of the big cat species on Earth. There are fewer than 100 Amur leopards believed to exist in the habitats of Russia and China. The species has been decimated in the wild due to loss of habitat and poaching for their thick coats. 1003
