CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man who allegedly stabbed and seriously injured another man with a screwdriver during a San Ysidro street robbery pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, robbery and vandalism charges.Eduardo Hernandez Oliveros, 22, is accused of robbing the victim just before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard.Police said the victim was using his cell phone when Oliveros confronted him on the street and asked to use the phone. Before the victim could react, Oliveros allegedly snatched the phone out of his hand and took off.Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim alleged the victim chased Oliveros down and a "physical struggle" ensued, culminating in the defendant stabbing the victim in the face and neck with a screwdriver.Bystanders called police, who responded and arrested Oliveros, who faces more than 25 years in state prison if convicted of all charges, according to the prosecutor.The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department, which alleged that Oliveros "admitted he was trying to kill the victim."Oliveros has a prior attempted murder conviction for stomping on his girlfriend's head, stabbing her in the leg and telling her he was going to kill her, according to Shim. He was found guilty in 2015 in Riverside County, according to the criminal complaint.Bail was set at million for Oliveros, who is due back in court Oct. 14 for a readiness conference. 1503

CHULA VISTA, Calif., (KGTV)- It has been one week since the brutal attack and rape of a young woman at Otay Park. But Chula Vista Police say their investigation is far from over. Now nearby schools are reminding parents to stay vigilant. Chula Vista Police said last Monday, a woman in her 20’s was exercising on the stairs at Otay Park. But on her way down, someone pushed her from behind, knocking her unconscious.The perpetrator then raped her, stole her things, and ran.When she woke up, she managed to flag someone down at the park, who then called 9-1-1.It has been seven days into the investigation. But the Chula Vista police department says the perpetrator is still at large. Detectives are now reviewing and enhancing several pieces of video evidence.They are also waiting to get the results of the victim’s rape kit. Last week, Otay Elementary School Pirincipal, Monica Castillo sent a letter to parents addressing the recent crime that happened next to school property. 1009

La Bella Pizza Garden is one such mom and pop shop.10News anchor Kimberly Hunt stopped by this 1950s pizza parlor, now run by Tony Raso.“I used to roll pizza and make meatballs in the 70s”, says Raso.Raso proudly displays photos of his mother and father, who opened the restaurant almost 60 years ago.“That's his delivery vehicle in the 50s. Raso’s son Michael works alongside his father. He will eventually take over the business. He says their customers are family too. “When I'm working up front, they come in and say my grandparents came here, we come here, our kids come here, You can't stop that, you've got to keep it going," said Michael Raso. CHICAGO, Illinois — People are caught on camera an average of 75 times a day.But there is now some new technology hitting the market that can hide a person's face from some of those."Baby Driver" is the latest Hollywood movie to use crazy fashionable technology to commit crimes like robbing banks. The truth is they may not be that far off. Scott Urban, the creator of Reflectacles, says his product helps bounce light back directly to where it came from.“One of my past clients came up to me and asked me to make him a pair of reflective glasses," Urban said.The glasses don't make a person invisible, but can throw off security cameras. One of his biggest concerns is privacy.“You know if you have this concept that you're being filmed and recorded and listened to everywhere you go, you might limit your own personal freedoms," he said.The glasses reflect light into the camera creating a blown out glow.Our reporter found the glasses work really well when it's dark, but in broad sunlight, not so much.Scott's gear got him in a bit of trouble at the neighborhood bar he goes to often. They asked him to take off his glasses. Katrina Arthur, the manager and fourth generation's family owner of Archie's Iowa & Rockwell Tavern, said, “We want to be sure if anything were to happen and go back and look at our security tapes and be able to identify anybody who may have caused an incident."Our reporters also found reflective glasses aren't the only option out there. The ISHU cloak is made by entrepreneur Saif Siddiqui, who feels strongly about privacy as well.“It's just the option of going invisible," Siddiqui said.He sells anti-paparazzi gear. Siddiqui's clothing does nearly the same thing as the glasses — gives back some privacy.“I find it important to give people the option to not be seen," he said.But these option may be short-lived. Security companies are taking notice of this new technology and working to stay ahead of it.“There are ways to make cameras that can see everybody's face, and I suppose it can be a cat and mouse game or I invest in better and better technology to hide my face."Keith Jentoft, is a video surveillance expert with more than 20 years in the business. He believes this type of tech actually does the opposite of what's intended because it sticks out."You're going to be calling yourself out and calling attention to yourself. If you're spending a lot of money to be private, people want to know why," Jentoft said.Scott Urban knows his gear isn't for everyone but says there's something bigger to consider.“Is it ok for you to tell me that my face must be recorded and analyzed everywhere I go?"
