A 12-year-old girl who is battling leukemia has a special request for her birthday.Aspen Kelly can’t travel, so she is asking for postcards from around the U.S. and the world.Her mom says she has received more than 1,000 postcards so far. A 6-year-old Maryland child was struck by a car while exiting a school bus Tuesday afternoon in Charles County, Maryland, WJLA-TV reported. The child, who has not been identified, reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries from the incident, authorities told WJLA. Tuesday's incident comes hours after a similar incident took place in Tennessee. Tuesday morning, a 41-year-old woman was charged with felony reckless endangerment and illegal passing of a school bus or failure to yield to a stopped school bus after striking a 10-year-old child boarding a school bus, WJHL-TV reported. The boy suffered minor injuries, and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, WJHL-TV reported. Tuesday's incidents are a reminder of the dangers children face at the bus stop.
