SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a homeless man a Mission Valley father says tried dragging his daughter into bushes before she was able to escape.Chris Gilbert says his 11-year-old daughter went to check the mail Saturday around 2 p.m. on the 5900 block of Caminito Deporte when the incident happened.After walking across the street to check the mail, Gilbert says his daughter felt hands on her shoulders.RELATED: San Diego Homelessness Czar to go on leave to open Mormon temple"She thought it was me, sneaking up playing a game,” Gilbert said.Then, Gilbert says, the man grabbed the 11-year-old by the neck and started dragging her toward some bushes.“She told me he put his hands on her shoulders from behind and was holding her, turned around and kicked him in the shin, got loose and ran into the house and found me upstairs.”That’s when Gilbert ran downstairs to confront the homeless man, hitting him in the shoulder as a warning.RELATED: Oceanside residents demand solution to homelessness issue“I said, ‘you need to get out of here,’ then he started hitting me.”Gilbert’s daughter describes the man as six foot, two inches tall, between the ages of 40 to 45 with thick glasses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police arrested two people following a pursuit through San Carlos Friday night.Officers say they responded to reports of gunshots near the San Carlos Recreation Center around 9:53 p.m. They said they tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle, but it took off. A five-minute pursuit took place before the suspect’s car crashed near the Jackson and Golfcrest Drives.The suspects rushed out of the vehicle, but one was caught after surrendering at a nearby taco shop.  The other one ran into a nearby housing complex. That suspect surrendered after about a three-minute standoff.Police say they found guns in the car. The suspect's names have not yet been released.  713

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors say overnight surveillance video of a tagger in action is a glimpse of an ongoing, frustrating problem.Near Euclid Avenue and Polk Avenue, there is a church, an elementary school, and a sight Leanne Montano has seen before."Sad they're destroying someone else's property," said Montano.Video shows what unfolded just down the street. Just before 2 a.m., a motion-activated light flashes, but these vandals are undeterred. With another man and a person on a bike nearby, someone in a cap and hoodie casually begins spray painting the back wall of a home. For more than 40 seconds, he tags the wall, before he and his cohorts leave.It appears they weren't done. 10News found similar tags on fences, and garage door after garage door. A block away at Euclid Elementary, there was more graffiti. Montano's place was spared, but her home has been hit several times before. She says tagging - including the school - is a weekly occurrence."Tagging leads to other activities that aren't safe. My concern as a parent and resident is the children's safety and them walking to school, feeling safe. It allows other people to treat our neighborhood like crap. If we don't take pride in our neighborhood, who else is going to?" said Montano.The City of San Diego offers rewards up to 0 for the arrest and conviction of graffiti vandals. 1364

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot and killed in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood late Saturday night, San Diego Police say.Police were called to the 5700 block of El Cajon Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a possible shooting in the area.When they arrived, officers found a man with an apparent gunshot to the head. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to police.Little is known about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but police say the victim was involved in a fight with the suspect, identified as Joseph Mehlenbacher, 18.“Mehlenbacher and the gun are still outstanding. He is considered armed and dangerous,” police said in a news release.He was last seen driving a white 2002 Honda Accord with California license plate 8CJY250.Police urged the public not to approach Mehlenbacher if spotted. “Please do not make any attempt to contact Mehlenbacher. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police announced that a missing 12-year-old girl who disappeared Wednesday afternoon from Allied Gardens has been found safe. San Diego Police say 12-year-old Lani Pace went missing from the 5200 block of Lewison Court before 5 p.m. after her parents left their home to run errands. Lani was at home with her 10-year-old sister, Lily, police said.When Lani's parents returned home about an hour later, she was not there and her sister didn't see her leave, according to police. Lily did see her sister get dressed as if she was leaving the house, she told police.It's unclear where Pace was located. 628
