Facebook is launching a widespread effort to boost U.S. voter turnout and provide authoritative information about voting — just as it doubles down on its policy allowing politicians like President Donald Trump to post false information on the same subject.The social media giant is launching a “Voting Information Center” on Facebook and Instagram that will include details on registering to vote, polling places and voting by mail. With all three counties surrounding San Diego, officials here have issued warnings to chicken owners to look out for symptoms.According to the San Diego County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures, symptoms include:Sudden death and increased death loss in flock.Sneezing, gasping for air, nasal discharge, coughing.Greenish, watery diarrhea.Decreased activity, tremors, drooping wings, twisting of head and neck, circling, complete stiffness.Swelling around the eyes and neck.They say anyone who sees these symptoms in their birds should contact the CDFA Bird Hotline at at 866-922-BIRD. 953

Federal investigators say the pilot of the helicopter that crashed in thick fog, killing Kobe Bryant and seven other passengers, reported he was climbing when he actually was descending. The National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday that Ara Zobayan’s last transmission said he was climbing to 4,000 feet to get above clouds. But he actually was in a rapid descent into a hillside northwest of Los Angeles. The report confirms initial findings that the helicopter was functioning and does not offer a conclusion of what caused the Jan. 26 crash that killed all nine aboard.Video and photos from the crash site indicated that heavy fog was in the area at the time the helicopter crashed.The pilot of the helicopter, who was among the nine killed, has lengthy experience in the air. He had 8,200 hours of total flight time and 1,250 hours with the type of helicopter flown. He had completed the same route the day before, albeit in clear conditions. 965

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested in connection with the death of a man in an Escondido apartment, police said Wednesday.At around 7 p.m. Tuesday, a woman called 911 to report that her roommate was dead in an apartment in the 600 block of N. Quince Street, according to Escondido police.Responding officers arrived to find an unidentified man “unresponsive with obvious signs of trauma,” police said.The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Escondido police added: “The woman who had called 911 was present at the apartment. Officers determined that she lived at the apartment with the deceased man. They have been involved in a dating relationship and she had been recently arrested for domestic abuse charges. She was out on bond after being booked into jail on that previous case.”Amid their investigation, police arrested the woman -- 52-year-old Shelley Reaves -- on suspicion of murder and booked her into the Vista Detention Facility.No other details were released as the incident remains under investigation.Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Escondido police. 1109
