BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China supports reforms of the World Trade Organization (WTO) that honor the institution's rules but will not create a new organization, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said Thursday.

For a long time, some Western media are keen to dress themselves up as so-called "human rights defenders" and are accustomed to pointing fingers at others, accusing them of wrongdoings, while in the same breath, incessantly spewing discriminatory reports on other ethnicities.

"But if somebody started a trade war against us, we have to respond and defend our own interests," the Chinese envoy said. "So this is tariffs for tariffs. It's for nothing else," he said.

Such closer relations are decided by market forces, and are the result of the joint efforts of the two governments and industries, reflecting the inevitable trend of the global industry chains distribution, Gao said.
