GUANGZHOU, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- China will increasingly promote the use of clean energy, since the country's energy needs are expected to increase by an equivalent of 2 billion tonnes of coal in the next decade, said Dai Yande, an official of the National Development and Reform Commission Tuesday during the 2010 Asia Energy Forum in Guangzhou City."China will use the lever of price to increase the demand for new energy," Dai said, "We will increase the share of non-fossil fuels in energy consumption to 15 percent by 2020.""We will increase the installed capacity of nuclear power to 80 million kilowatts and hydroelectric power to 400 million kilowatts by the end of 2020," Dai added.Further, China's major export hub Guangdong Province will invest 10 billion yuan (1.5 billion U. BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- During the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), China spent 3.26 trillion yuan on social security, an annual increase of 17.6 percent, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) told Xinhua Friday.Wang Jun, vice minister of the MOF, said in the 2006-2010 period, the social security expenditure from the central government stood at 1.4 trillion yuan (210.19 billion U.S. dollars), which was 2.1 times the expenditure in the previous five years.As the improvement of civil welfare is a crucial component of the harmonious society China is pursuing, financial authorities at all levels should continue to raise investments in social security when making the 2011 fiscal budget and plans for the 12th Five-Year Plan starting from 2011, Wang said.

BEIJING, Dec.19 (Xinhua) -- China's land regulators urged local land authorities late Sunday to take concrete measures against excessive growth in the country's land prices in some Chinese cities and crack down on illegal behavior, such as land hoarding, to ensure the implementation of the government's cooling measures on the property market.The Ministry of Land and Resources(MOLAR) said in a statement on its web site that the recently seen high prices in land sales in some Chinese cities had raised social concerns, which local land authorities should pay considerable attention to, and take actions to curb the rapid growth in land prices.According to the MOLAR, cities and counties that had not provided more than 70 percent of the total land supply this year to shantytown renovation, the construction of affordable homes and medium-priced commercial housing, should not provide land for high-end housing for the rest of this year.Further, for land sales with over 50 percent premium rate or record high prices, local governments should report to provincial land authorities and the MOLAR within two working days after the deal is closed.The procedures of supplying land should also be strictly conducted, and there should never be any change in the use of land that is for the construction of affordable housing, said the statement.
