BEIJING/FUZHOU, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A plane chartered by the Chinese government flew 14 Chinese fishermen illegally seized by Japanese authorities from Japan to the southeast China port city of Fuzhou Monday afternoon, after China's repeated solemn representations.The fishermen were detained after the trawler they were aboard collided with two Japanese Coast Guard patrol vessels near the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea last Tuesday. AMMAN, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Middle East envoy Wu Sike on Tuesday discussed regional peace with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh in Amman, stressing the importance of collective efforts of all concerned parties.Wu said China is concerned about the direct Palestinian-Israeli talks which are suspended now, adding China hopes that all parties could proceed from long-term interests and work together to help direct talks to resume and to achieve positive results as soon as possible.He also urged Israel to respond actively to the settlement issue to create the atmosphere for the resumption of direct talks.Judeh highlighted Beijing's role in the Middle East peace process and expressed Jordan's willingness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries to save the peace process.Jordan is the first stop of Wu's Middle East trip, which also includes the Palestinian territories, Israel, Turkey and Egypt.

BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- China National Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNCEC), one of the country's leading engineering, procurement and construction firms, said its net profit for the first six months of 2010 grew by 58.61 percent.Net profits totaled 653 million yuan (96 million U.S. dollars) while earnings per share stood at 0.13 yuan, up 20.37 percent from one year earlier, the company said in a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange late Sunday.CNCEC said its revenues during the first half of this year were valued at 14.57 billion yuan, among which project construction contracts accounted for 13.03 billion yuan, up 15.97 percent from one year earlier.The Beijing-based company has also made progress in overseas markets where revenues increased by 63.53 percent to nearly three billion yuan, while domestic revenues grew by 8.54 percent to 11.5 billion yuan, according to the statement.CNCEC attributed its strong performance to collective material purchasing, improved outsourcing and investment management, continuously reduced project costs and an effective human resources incentive mechanism.
