SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Veterans Day will mark the last "fee-free" day of the year for visitors at Cabrillo National Monument.On Nov. 11, visitors will not be charged admission to visit the San Diego landmark as part of the National Park Service promotion — offered on several days throughout the year.Those who visit the monument at the tip of Point Loma will take in tremendous views of the San Diego skyline, Coronado, and the bay.RELATED: Bill pushes to add San Diego's Chicano Park to National Park SystemWhile there, living history re-enactors will walk visitors back in time to the Age of Exploration. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two men were stabbed and an officer was headbutted after a fight erupted between two groups outside a Gaslamp District nightclub.Two large groups of men were ejected from Phantom nightclub on Fifth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. and got into a street fight outside, San Diego Police said. During the altercation, two men were stabbed.One of the victims, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital. The other victim, a 24-year-old, received lacerations to his stomach, arms, and hands. Police say he was uncooperative and refused medical attention. Minutes later, he was contacted at 1200 3rd Avenue and fought with the responding officers, SDPD said.During the altercation, the man headbutted an officer and attempted to gouge out the eyes of another officer, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Too many young military families in San Diego are finding themselves trapped in mountains of debt, not knowing where to turn.It's a devastating problem that the nonprofit Support the Enlisted Project (STEP) is working to tackle."It's a real challenge, and I think we are setting these families up for failure a lot of the times," said Tony Teravainen, CEO and Co-founder of STEP. "Their wage with all their allowances, E4 and below, 100% of them are below HUD's low-income level."RELATED: San Diego woman climbs out of 3,000 debt holeTeravainen says families often don't ask for help until things have gotten really bad. STEP helps prevent roughly seven evictions each month for young military families. "As a country, we don't have great financial habits. And what we see is when families enter the military we put additional burdens on them, and a lot of times this pulls them further, further into debt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after the car they were in crashed into a support column at a Mission Beach apartment building.The collision happened shortly after 12 a.m. on Sunset Court and Bayside Lane, according to San Diego police.The car was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into a beam that helps hold up the building.Residents heard the crash, with some saying it felt like the entire building was shaking from the impact. Despite the collision, the structure did not appear to sustain major damage.According to witness reports, the male driver appeared to be intoxicated. 10News learned he was evaluated for possible DUI.The man and a female passenger were taken to the hospital with what were described as major injuries.No other injuries were reported. 825

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Across California, a record-breaking 3.7 million acres have already burned in more than 8-thousand wildfires this year.Both Cal Fire San Diego and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are preparing to respond to potential fire disasters, as dangerous weather conditions return to San Diego County.“We know the potential is there,” said Thomas Shoots, a public information officer for Cal Fire. “We’re holding all our firefighters on duty, and we’re staffing on every piece of equipment to make sure we’re covered, we’ve brought on contract dozers.
