SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Friends are grieving the loss of a young man killed in a South Bay crash that also sent five teenagers to the hospital. "This is like a bad dream and I want to wake up," said Ivan Nares.Nares says he got a heart-stopping call from his brother Gustavo, 18, from the emergency room Wednesday morning."He said, 'Ivan, Ivan, I need you. His brother was a passenger in a Chrysler 300 packed with teens after a night at an indoor trampoline park.The CHP says around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, the car was headed south on State Route 905 going at a high rate of speed when it hit the center divide near the Beyer Boulevard off-ramp. The 21-year-old driver was thrown from the car and died at the scene.Three males and two females, ranging from 15- to 19-years-old, were rushed to hospitals. Among them was Nares' brother, who suffered a fractured pelvis and two broken legs. He is uninsured. Gustavo is an amateur boxer and a recent graduate of San Ysidro High. He was in the process of applying to college. Instead, he faces a tough road to recovery."The advice give to all the people, especially young people is don't drive like you are in a 'Fast and Furious' movie. Be cautious. You're not just playing with your life. You're messing with other people's lives," Nares said.Nares has yet to tell his brother that his friend died in the crash. He's waiting for the right time. Using data provided by the company Truebill, Lendedu analyzed which companies tend to be more generous in negotiating with customers.Satellite service providers were analyzed in the report. Customers of SiriusXM had the highest success rate in negotiations, according to Lendedu. Consumers had negotiation success rates in the 80s with three other companies, Suddenlink, Centurylink, and Dish Network, the report showed.The study went on to note, “When it came to how much companies actually knocked off the average customer’s bill, SiriusXM once again led the way; the average SiriusXM customer was able to decrease that monthly charge by 40 percent or more. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- From Teddy Bears to cereal boxes, the TSA gave an exclusive look at the alarming items used to conceal explosives at the airport. 4.1 million travelers are expected to travel in and out of San Diego this summer, making it busier than ever. “It may seem like a pain on some travel days taking off your shoes dropping them in a bin and separating a laptop in another but it could be saving your life.”If you’ve traveled through an airport, you’re no stranger to the TSA checkpoint. “Our officers need a clear view of the electronic itself making sure circuitry, the electronics inside of it haven’t been tampered with.”It’s not just electronics, but stuffed animals are also used to disguise explosives. “Because they think that our officers would be disarmed because it’s a child item.”From coffee beans to baby formula and peanut butter, TSA has seen it all. “We’re in no way saying every passenger is bringing these types of items but it only takes one and we really need to get it right every single time.” 1036

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Federal agents have been added to the investigation of a Kearny Mesa fire that gutted an off-roading business early Thursday morning.About 25 agents with National Response Team (NRT) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) out of Los Angeles were requested by San Diego Fire-Rescue to assist with the probe.The NRT agents will arrive Friday and begin processing the scene at Off Road Warehouse Saturday, according to the ATF. They join other officials with ATF Los Angeles, SDFD, and the San Diego Police in the investigation. The fire comes five months after another fire ignited in November 2018. That fire, however, was reportedly ruled as an electrical fire.“ATF is committed to working alongside state and local law enforcement by bringing its resources to determine the origin and cause of this fire that resulted in a total loss for this business,” said Carlos Canino, the special agent in charge of ATF Los Angeles Field Division. “ATF will provide whatever is necessary to thoroughly investigate and provide answers.”Thursday's blaze was reported at about 1:30 a.m. at the ORW building (7915 Balboa Ave.) The fire caused an estimated .5 million in damages and the warehouse's contents were deemed a total loss.
