SAN DIEGO -- As part of an initiative aimed at expanding San Diego's regional bike network, SANDAG has released a map of bikeways throughout the county. The plan, known as GO by BIKE, proposes a bike system of interconnected corridors, support facilities and programs that make biking a convenient form of travel.According to Keep San Diego Moving, making the region more bike-friendly resolves issues like traffic congestion, air quality and livability.The plan proposes a network of bike corridors that will allow residents to bike on more direct routes within and between major destinations and activity centers.The plan also supports the implementation of SANDAG’s regional comprehensive plan and SANDAG’s 2050 regional transportation plan.To promote the infrastructure, SANDAG is putting on Bike to Work Day, which will take place on Thursday, May 17.The plan also has a 0 million early action program. SAN DIEGO — NFL quarterback Drew Brees and his wife say a San Diego jeweler lied and falsely represented the value of the jewelry sold to them.That's according to a lawsuit in which Brees and his wife are seeking million in damages and court costs from Vahid Moaradi, the founder of CJ Charles Jewlers, for fraud, a breach of an oral contract, and violations of business professions code.The lawsuit accuses Moradi of making friends with the Breeses and then using his "relationship and position to induce" Brees to rely "on his false representations as to the investment quality and market value" of numerous diamonds, a lawsuit filed in San Diego said.In the lawsuit, Brees says he has spent millions of dollars in business with Moradi, purchasing jewelry as gifts and as investments."In total, [the Brees] invested approximately million in investment quality diamonds recommended by Moradi," the suit states. "The independent appraiser determined the true market value of the diamonds ... was approximately million less than the prices the [Brees] paid."Brees also claims that Moradi "confessed he charged Plaintiffs a substantial markup," in one case charging a 550 percent markup. Brees also argues that Moradi went so far as to conceal the true quality of the diamonds using "reflective and painted settings." Moradi has fought back against the allegation. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 28-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of stabbing his girlfriend multiple times inside a Colina Del Sol apartment, police said.Dispatchers received multiple calls shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday from neighbors who reported hearing screaming coming from one of the apartments in a complex on 49th Street just south of El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.Officers responding to the scene found that a woman had been stabbed multiple times and the suspect had fled, Martinez said.The victim, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of her wounds, which were not believed to be life- threatening, the officer said.Around 10:35 p.m. Thursday, the suspect apparently called 911 and told a dispatcher his location, and that he was going to surrender, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.The 28-year-old man, whose name was not immediately available, was taken into custody around 10:45 p.m. on El Cajon Boulevard near El Cerrito Drive, Martinez said. 1053

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 17-year-old from San Diego driving a vehicle police suspected to be stolen was shot by a detective during a traffic stop, Hemet police said Saturday.Detectives with the department's Crime Suppression Unit conducted the traffic stop at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North San Jacinto Street, Lt. Jeff Davis said."Detectives transitioned to a high risk stop after a records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen from the San Diego area. An officer involved shooting occurred during the stop," Davis said.The San Diego teen was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later released to his guardian after receiving treatment, according to the news release.It was unclear what led to the shooting, and a call to Davis by a reporter Saturday morning was not returned.No officers were injured in the encounter, and an investigation was ongoing. 910

SAN DIEGO — (KGTV) -- Democrat Sara Jacobs continues to hold a double-digit lead over Democrat Georgette Gomez in the race for California's 53rd Congressional District, according to a new scientific poll.The ABC-10News Union-Tribune scientific poll shows Jacobs leading Gomez 40 percent to 27 percent, with 33 percent still undecided. The two Democrats are vying to replace Susan Davis, who is retiring in the central and south San Diego district after nearly 20 years. The poll shows Jacobs, granddaughter of Qualcomm founder Irwin Jacobs, leading in support from those who describe themselves as liberal, moderate, conservative, and very conservative. Gomez, currently the City Council president, is generating most of her support from voters who describe themselves as very liberal."With only two weeks left to go until the election, Georgette Gomez is running out of time to close the gap on Sara Jacobs," said Thad Kousser, a political scientist at UC San Diego.Kousser said the closer the election gets, the harder it will be for Gomez to catch up, because of the increase in mail-in ballots and early voting. The poll shows 26 percent of the respondents already sent in their ballots. Kousser said, however, that Jacobs still has not reached the 50 percent support threshold, leaving the door open for Gomez, who will have to convince most of the undecideds to support her. "She hasn't been making substantial progress at the same time that she's being hugely outspent on the airwaves by Sara Jacobs," he said.
