BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday held talks with his Portuguese counterpart Anibal Cavaco Silva on further promoting the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
Targets for economic and social development were met in 2013, Li said, adding that effective measures were taken to realize stable consumer prices, create new jobs and improve people's livelihoods.
Li arrived in Abuja earlier on Tuesday for a visit to Nigeria, the second leg of his first Africa visit since he took office in 2013.
On Saturday, The New York Times and German magazine Der Spiegel reported that the U.S. had spied on Chinese telecoms firm Huawei, citing classified documents provided to journalists by former U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden.
"The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing friendly relations and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with the ASEAN, hoping to take advantage of the Cultural Exchange Year to demonstrate fruitful result of cultural cooperation of the two sides and introduce cultural achievements to the world," Li said, noting that the event serves as a stage for cooperation among artists and peoples in different countries.
