SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An emotional sentencing hearing was held downtown Tuesday for a driver behind a fatal Chollas View crash last March.In March, 36-year-old Jacqueline Castillo reportedly had drugs in her system when blew through an intersection in Chollas View, slamming her car into another car, killing 62-year-old Brenda Lee.“I want to put a face to that name. Brenda Doreen Lee was my sister,” said Lee’s brother, Ronnie Lee, as he held her framed photo up for the courtroom and Castillo to see. “You made choices to get loaded. You made choices to drive on a suspended licensed. You made a choice to drive erratically."The crash happened in the early afternoon by an elementary school. Castillo later pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter. “The horrifying images I saw will never be removed from my mind,” said Lee’s son, Myrell Johns. He fought off tears as he described how his family’s life has been destroyed. “I often think about my mother's terrifying thoughts that may have occurred moments before and after the impact of this person's vehicle plowing through my mother's driver side door." Heitmann’s sports car crashed into an SUV, killing Aileen Pizarro, 43, and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The California Highway Patrol reported that video of the impact shows Heitmann did not attempt to swerve before hitting the SUV.The San Diego County Medical Examiner said Heitmann suffered 11 types of blunt force injuries in the crash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A water main break in Mira Mesa flooded a music and art studio, filling up rooms full of musical instruments and equipment.The sound of gushing water early Saturday night led to a flood of emotions for musician Anastasya Korol."There is a river rushing in the back ... Shocked and really sad as it started to sink in," said Korol.That night, city officials say water from a break in a 55-year-old, 36-inch steel pipe, flowed into the back of a building in the Via Excelencia Business Park. One of the businesses flooded was the San Diego Music and Art Cooperative, a music and art studio for independent artists. It's used for rehearsal space and classes.Korol says among the seven pianos damaged was the piano she played as a child. "It's upsetting to lose it ... The water goes up through the wood, warps the wood and sound board," said Korol.Also waterlogged: dozens of other instruments, from guitars to violins, along with a long list of sound equipment, artwork and art supplies. Studio founder Mathew Rakers says the total loss is hundreds of thousands of dollars."It's crazy to put years and years of work into something and see it wash away in a matter of hours," said Rakers.Rakers plans to file a claim with the city.
