SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Hundreds of families are sleeping at Liberty Station Saturday night to raise awareness and money for the homeless in San Diego. The event is an annual tradition for the The San Diego Rescue Mission. Families participating in the event sleep on cots and tents made of cardboard to experience what homeless experience on a daily basis. Participants also build hygiene kits, blankets, and pet packs for the homeless. This year, the event included a concert, food, and a prayer session to pray for those that don't have a home. All of the proceeds raised at the event go to the San Diego Rescue Mission. 636

SAN DIEGO (KGTV/CNS) - Opening statements were delivered Thursday in the civil trial between NFL quarterback Drew Brees and a La Jolla jeweler who allegedly sold the football pro and his wife diamonds far above their actual value.Brees took the stand to describe the close relationship he says he had with the store owner. "He always talked about it as being an investment," said Brees. (KGTV) -- Family members have identified three of the four teens involved in a deadly accident in Mt Hope.Three teens died at the scene, a fourth is in ICU at the hospital.Dwayne Heard is Dashaun Heard’s father, one of the teens that did not survive the crash. Dashaun was just 17-years-old. Heard says his family is still in disbelief about what happened, saying his son was a good kid that was outgoing and enjoyed being with his friends.Rose Monta?o is the mom of two of the teens in the car, 17-year-old Daniel and 15-year-old Julian Monta?o. Daniel did not survive the crash. Julian is in ICU and doctors had to amputate one of his legs.Monta?o says her son Daniel had a loving heart, was positive and enthusiastic about life.Both Heard and Monta?o say they still have many questions about what happened that night.The crash happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. Police say an officer ran the car’s plates and noticed it was reported stolen. SDPD says the driver ran a red light, refusing to pull over. According to police, the officer lost sight of the car, but the helicopter followed. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A federal judge blocked on Friday President Donald Trump from building sections of his long-sought border wall with money secured under his declaration of a national emergency. U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam Jr. on Friday immediately halted the administration's efforts to redirect military-designated funds for wall construction. His order applies to two projects, scheduled to begin as early as Saturday, to replace 51 miles of fence in two areas on the Mexican borderGilliam issued the ruling after hearing arguments last week in two cases. California and 19 other states brought one lawsuit; the Sierra Club and a coalition of communities along the border brought the other. His ruling was the first of several lawsuits against Trump's controversial decision to bypass the normal appropriations process to pay for his long-sought wall."The position that when Congress declines the Executive's request to appropriate funds, the Executive nonetheless may simply find a way to spend those funds `without Congress' does not square with fundamental separation of powers principles dating back to the earliest days of our Republic," the judge wrote in granting a temporary injunction to stop construction.At stake is billions of dollars that would allow Trump to make progress in a signature campaign promise heading into his campaign for a second term.Trump declared a national emergency in February after losing a fight with the Democratic-led House over fully paying for the wall that led to a 35-day government shutdown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— The man accused of raping and torturing a woman in his home in Rancho Penasquitos faced a judge today. 32-year-old Uber driver, Seyed Hassan Kaboli pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of sexual crimes. Kaboli peaked through his holding cell, as the judge announced his fate. San Diego Police said Kaboli bound, raped, and tortured a woman, multiple times at his home in Rancho Penasquitos on May 19th and 20th. Sky10 footage showed the victim being consoled by the police on Monday, and she said she ran naked to escape 24 hours of brutal misery. The next day, Kaboli was arrested just north of National City. 10News obtained a copy of the criminal complaint, explaining Kaboli’s 12 felony charges. They include:(5) Forcible oral copulation (2) Rape(1) Rape by a foreign object(1) Torture(1) Assault with great bodily injury(1) Sexual battery(1) False imprisonmentThe complaint also suggests that there may be another person involved in the crimes. Under count three, it reads Kaboli “inflicted aggravated mayhem and torture on the victim and another person.”Under count eleven, it reads “said person was unlawfully restrained by said defendant and an accomplice.”In the courtroom, neither the defense nor the district attorney would comment on a possible third party.Still, the judge issued a protective order for the victim— a woman, whose relationship was not disclosed. But Kaboli’s defense attorney said she was not his Uber customer. “There is no prior relationship,” Kaboli’s attorney, Ryan Tegnelia said. “He is not denying that they came into contact with each other on the date of the incident. But before that, they did not have any relationship.”Tegnelia said Kaboli’s family describes him as an introverted man who keeps to himself. They said they are shocked at his arrest. “This obviously came completely out of left field for them, caught everybody by surprise,” Tegnelia said. The judge set Kaboli’s bail amount at 0,000.
