The Walt Disney Co. is planning to lay off 28,000 workers in its theme parks division in California and Florida.The company has been squeezed by limits on attendance at its parks and other restrictions due to the pandemic. Officials said Tuesday that two-thirds of the planned layoffs involve part-time workers but they ranged from salaried employees to nonunion hourly workers.In addition to the 28,000 nonunion workers, Disney said it is discussing next steps with unionized cast members.Disney’s parks closed last spring as the pandemic started spreading in the U.S. The Florida parks reopened this summer, but the California parks have yet to reopen as the company awaits guidance from the state of California.Disney along with local officials, have pressured California officials to resume operations at Disneyland. Gavin Newsom.Newsom said a month ago that he would have an announcement soon on plans to allow for a reopening of amusement parks in California, including Disneyland.“In light of the prolonged impact of COVID-19 on our business, including limited capacity due to physical distancing requirements and the continued uncertainty regarding the duration of the pandemic – exacerbated in California by the State’s unwillingness to lift restrictions that would allow Disneyland to reopen – we have made the very difficult decision to begin the process of reducing our workforce at our Parks, Experiences and Products segment at all levels, having kept non-working Cast Members on furlough since April, while paying healthcare benefits,” said Josh D’Amaro, Disney Parks chairman. “Approximately 28,000 domestic employees will be affected, of which about 67% are part-time. The White House on Wednesday downplayed comments by national security adviser John Bolton, who recently invoked Libya's decision to denuclearize during the Bush administration as a model for US policy on North Korea, potentially placing a planned US-North Korea summit in jeopardy.Hours earlier, a North Korean official said Bolton's remarks were indicative of an "awfully sinister move" to imperil the Kim regime. North Korea stunned Washington on Tuesday by threatening to abandon talks between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un if Washington insists on pushing it "into a corner" on nuclear disarmament.Referring to the Libya comparison, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday that she hadn't "seen that as part of any discussions so I'm not aware that that's a model that we're using."I haven't seen that that's a specific thing. I know that that comment was made. There's not a cookie cutter model on how this would work."She continued, "This is the President Trump model. He's going to run this the way he sees fit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that Sunshine Mills, Inc. has expanded its voluntary recall on dog food to include more products.The products were produced between April 3-5, 2020, and contain an unsafe level of aflatoxin, a toxin produced by the mold Aspergillus flavus, and at high levels, cause illness and death in pets, the FDA said.The products were recalled after a sample contained an unsafe level of aflatoxin was found by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry.The products include Family Pet Meaty Cuts, Heartland Farms, Champ, Field Trial, and Good Dog, distributed across the U.S. at retail stores.If you purchased any of the recalled items, the FDA says that you stop using them, throw them out, or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.You can check to see if your product has been recalled by clicking here. 875

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about several hand sanitizer products that have been found to contain wood alcohol, which can potentially be deadly to ingest or on the skin.The FDA said the products from EskBiochem SA de CV in Mexico contain methanol, also known as wood alcohol, which can be deadly when absorbed through the skin or ingested. Substantial methanol exposure can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death."Methanol is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitizers and should not be used due to its toxic effects," the FDA wrote in their statement.While anyone who puts methanol on their hands is at risk, officials say young children who accidentally ingest these products and adolescents and adults who drink these products as an alcohol (ethanol) substitute, are most at risk for methanol poisoning.On June 17, the FDA contacted Eskbiochem to recommend they remove its hand sanitizer products from the market. However, to date, the company has not taken action to remove the products from the market and the FDA is urging people to stop using them, and dispose of them properly. 1231
