(KGTV) - A furnace door was not closed while the system was being operated at a San Diego County, California crematorium Thursday, sending heavy smoke containing the ashes of human remains above the area.The problem was reported at 12:15 p.m. at the Cortez Family Crematorium at 100 W. 35th St in National City, near Interstate 5 and SR-54.National City Fire Captain Brian Krebs said the furnace was in use and the oven door was not shut, sending smoke out of the chimney and the open doors of the building.The building’s heat detectors activated the fire extinguishers, according to a funeral home employee. Firefighters said the extinguishers gave off a strong odor. There were human remains in the smoke, Krebs confirmed. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina's police department is dealing with national scrutiny after police removed a man after he reportedly purchased a meal for homeless man inside of a McDonald's.The incident, which took place on Wednesday, was recorded on video, and has since gone viral, generating a national buzz. Nearly 40 million people have viewed the video in the 24 hours since it has been released. The incident happened after police were attempting to remove a man, who is reportedly homeless was eating a meal inside McDonald's. The man recording the incident claimed that he brought the man into the McDonald's and purchased him a meal."You guys suck... He didn't ask me for food, I saw him across the street and brought him over here for food," Yossi Gallo said. Gallo was then warned that he was being disorderly."I’m getting kicked out of here because I gave a homeless guy food,” Yossi Gallo said on the video he posted. Gallo and the homeless man were removed from the McDonald's by police. Police claim that the homeless man was asking people for money. A claim Gallo disputed. Myrtle Beach Police released a statement involving Wednesday's incident: Officers were dispatched to the location after receiving a call, from an employee of the business, that a male was in the parking lot asking people for money. Upon arriving at the restaurant, an employee approached the officer and indicated the male was inside the establishment. The employee requested the officer issue a trespassing warning and asked that the person leave the premises. The officer advised the male of the request made by the business and issued the warning. A bystander, who was videotaping the incident was also trespassed from the location, at the request of the manager, for what management deemed as disorderly behavior. 1858

The lawsuit, filed by the family of Earl McNeil, names National City as well as several officers and deputies. McNeil showed up at the National City Police Department in 2018 seeking help. RELATED: No criminal charges to be filed in National City Police custody death of Earl McNeilPolice say he made threats and admitted he had drugs. McNeil died in jail from a heart attack. According to the medical examiner, McNeil had high levels of methamphetamine in his system when he died. The lawsuit claims officers used excessive force and failed to give him proper medical care. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he’s concerned after seeing video of police using a stunning and arresting?a Milwaukee Bucks player Sterling Brown.The video is expected to be released soon, possible later this week. Police are reportedly bracing for backlash from the release of that video. This incident took place on the south side of Milwaukee in January. Police were called to a Walgreens because Brown was illegally parked across two handicap spaces. The officers say they tried to talk to Brown but had to deploy their stun guns to arrest him. Since that time, the arrest has been the subject of a police internal investigation."I have some of the same concerns that the chief has expressed over the video. I'm going to let the release of that speak for itself, but yes, I definitely have concerns after watching that video,” Barrett said. The mayor indicated that Police Chief Alfonso Morales had a similar reaction after seeing the video. Brown was not charged in the incident.
