SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Congress is considering a bill that will push for more transparency in the online event ticketing industry. Included in the reforms would be a mandate that companies disclose the full cost of each ticket, including additional fees, up front.In the current environment, most ticket sites show only the cost of the ticket up front, but add the fees after the customer has begun the process of purchasing the tickets.San Diego Congressman Scott Peters is on the committee considering the bill and questioned leaders from the major ticketing companies during a congressional hearing Wednesday. The hearing included representatives from Ticketmaster, Stubhub, and AXS.Other contentious issues being considered by lawmakers include battling ticket fraud, transfer of tickets once purchased, and the accusations that companies withhold putting many of the tickets on sale at one time in order to create a false sense of demand and artificially cause the ticket prices to increase.Peters says he thinks Congress will be able to pass a strong bill to create more transparency. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating a man's death after they say he died following a fight. Police were called to the 5600 block of Imperial Avenue in Valencia Park around 1:12 p.m. after receiving reports of a man having chest pains. After arriving, the 51-year-old man -- identified as San Diego resident Joseph Ives -- was taken to the hospital where he later died.Police later learned that Ives got into a fight shortly before his death. According to police, after an altercation with another man, Ives told a witness that he was experiencing chest pains. Ives "did not have any obvious signs of trauma to his body," police said. Out of caution, San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the death.  773

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — City leaders welcomed a new North County park Wednesday, highlighted by a specially created area for the playground's most adventurous.Pacific Highlands Ranch Community Park sports five acres of turf field, two dog parks, playground and "discovery play" area, skate plaza, and San Diego's first free, public parkour area and bike pump track.The park also includes a 17,000-square-foot recreation center, featuring a gymnasium, multi-purpose building, and outdoor courtyard. The center's solar panels also promise to lower the park's energy consumption by 36 percent, according to the city.RELATED: San Diego County park rangers recommend these trails in 2019The park is the 23rd park to open as part of Mayor Kevin Faulconer's ambition to open or improve 50 parks in five years. Another 32 parks are in various stages of design and construction, according to the Mayor's office.“Every neighborhood in San Diego deserves a great community park,” Mayor Faulconer said in a release. “That’s why we are in the middle of the largest park expansion project in modern history. With each new park we open, we’re improving the quality of life for our residents, investing in our neighborhoods and leaving behind a better San Diego.”The park was funded through the Pacific Highlands Ranch Facilities Benefit Assessment funds and will be maintained and operated by the city.
