WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida's coronavirus daily cases record was obliterated Sunday with 15,300, nearly 4,000 more than the previous high and 24 percent of the U.S. total, as daily tests soared to 142,981 but new deaths subsided to 45, the Florida Department of Health announced.The previous state record for cases was set one week ago Saturday with 11,458. Saturday's total was 10,360, which was the fourth time it hit five digits. Friday's total was 11,433 and last Sunday was 10,059.Florida also holds the record for most cases in one day in the United States. During the height of the pandemic, New York reached a peak of 12,274 cases in one day.Since the first two cases were announced four months ago on March 1, Florida's total has surged to more than 1 percent of the state's population to a total of 269,811.In one week, Florida's cases have risen by 69,700 for an increase of 34.8 percent. Last Sunday, total cases passed 200,000.Since the first two deaths were announced on March 6, the death toll has climbed to 4,242, which is ninth in the nation. The number of nonresident deaths listed by the state remained at 104 for a total death count of 4,346.Deaths rose by 511 in the state over seven days for 13.7 percent. The U.S. figure is 3.6 percent with the world at 6.4 percent.Testing has dramatically ramped up from just a few at select sites to massive places throughout Florida as well as nursing homes, jails and farm workers. We're all familiar by now with the student walkouts in solidarity against gun violence. It's one way they've united in one voice to try to make a difference.  But some students are using art, and billboards, to send a message of their own.           For Yoki Ogbai, the overalls she's painting are more than a school project"Our colors are red and white," Ogbai said. "So a lot of wings a lot of bows glitter all types of crazy.The overalls are her latest work of art."Art for me is like a big sense of release," Ogbai said.Born in East Africa, she used art as expression when she moved to the U.S and a way for people to see her for who she is."A lot of times people don't really try to understand and don't really try to get to know a person before creating their onw ways," Ogbai said.  "Their own idea of who you are."So when she heard about a contest called the "Healing As One" campaign, she figured it would be an opportunity to inspire thousands to take a look at things in a different way."Cause he's kind of taking a picture and was like through the lens," Ogbai said.That idea grew into a billboard on a busy intersection that reads, "See Me, I Am Denver.""To be seen is to be acknowledged for everything you are and not for what you're expected to be," Ogbai says.Ogbai's billboard is just one of several in the Healing As One initiative. The topics are timely. One reads education not deportation. And others, encourage people to have courage and hope.Albany Reynolds designed the hope billboard."For me it's amazing because I've always been someone who wanted to speak out about issues like that," Reynolds said.  "And just bring attention to that."She placed the word over a picture she took of her classmate Kelly."It's giving us leeway to have artistic freedom and to put our ideas out there," Reynolds said. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. can now test several million people daily for coronavirus but the boom comes with a new challenge: keeping track of the results. Testing sites are legally required to report their results to public health agencies. But state health officials say the results from many rapid tests are going unreported. That means some COVID-19 infections may not be counted. Experts say the situation could get worse. The government is shipping 100 million of the newest rapid tests for use in public schools, assisted living centers and other new testing sites with little training or staffing to report the results. 635

Wednesday morning people in Baltimore found the Francis Scott Key statue vandalized. According to a photographer at the statue, it was spray painted from the sidewalk to the top its columns. Francis Scott Key was a lawyer, author, and poet from Frederick, Maryland. His poem "The Defense of Fort McHenry" eventually became the United State's national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner.""Racist anthem" was spray painted on the statue. Though it is rarely sung, the song's third verse does contain a reference to slavery.The Baltimore Sun reports that the graffiti appeared on the statue exactly 203 years after Key wrote the poem that inspired the national anthem. 707
